2023 NBA Draft Megathread

GG Jackson really intrigues me. He obviously needs to be coached up but has all the tools. I'd be interested to see what our coaching staff could do with him.

I don't think this draft is all that great for PGs. There's Nick Smith, who could play as a lead guard, but I'm not sure how effective he'll be against NBA defenses. Cason Wallace is a point-of-attack guy who really defends and can make open shots, but he's not all that skilled offensively right now. The team that gets Amen Thompson could play him at the 1 or play through him at the wing, like a modern version of Grant Hill. But outside the top 5 or 6, I'm not really excited about the PGs, or at least I don't see franchise-level PGs.

The one exception might be Anthony Black. He's versatile enough that if it doesn't work out for him as a PG, he can play two other positions. He's worth a try. I just don't know if he's a guy who runs a team every possession.
This draft is ELITE for PGs, to say otherwise you got to be high on gas. Scoot and Amen could be elite. Cason and NSJ have all star upside. If you want to consider Black a PG that's another high upside guy. Terquavion Smith has shown a big jump in playmaking so you have to consider him a PG now too, and he has starter upside. Marcus Sasser is a good upperclassmen even though he's not having as good of a stats season as most expected.

Black is gonna be awesome. I like Cason a lot outside of the top like 9-10 (seems like maybe like a slightly lower upside guy so I'd be a little nervous to go much higher than that).

Brandon Miller is firmly in the top 7 imo. I think him, Whitmire, Ausuar, and NSJ are the competitors for the 4-7 slots. Maybe Black, Wallace, GG, or Hendricks could sneak into there.

His skillset going towards the rim leaves a lot to be desired, but he's tall and long. He can definitely learn how to be effective as a rim attacker once he gets stronger.

The shooting is elite elite, especially with his size. And he does basically everything but finish at a high level.

Cason seems pretty close to can't miss. Good size, elite D, strong lead handler, and is a good enough open shooter to keep defenses honest.

Would be a great fit for the Jazz tbh.

I think he's a high floor guy but maybe not a wild ceiling. The defense and just mentality would be great to have. I think the creation is what will limit him.

I think if you take him top 6-7 there may end up being guys with big upside you missed on... but I like Cason. Would love to have him with where I think we will end up drafting.

I hope Black slides... GG, Hendricks, Black seem like the type guys that land in the 10-14 range that end up being the steals of the draft.

We really need to have two picks in the late lotto... either through sucking or trade.

Cason Wallace might be my favorite frosh right now. just love how he plays. but his ceiling does seem limited. just doesn't show much ability to create at this point and that's a problem. but the bball iq, playing under control, excellent shooting mechanics and the elite defense are just awesome to watch from a guy so young and Cal seems to want him on the floor for 40 minutes if it were realistic.

And sometimes those guys develop and unlock more creation... so I'm all good if we went that route. He may not be an all-star in the traditional sense but he could have all star impact like Holiday or some of those types.
