2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I think he didn’t play with a lot of playmakers who could find that shot for him.
Cmon now...

He hesitates to shoot open catch and shoot shots plus his form is slow that makes it easy for guys to closeout even if he wanted to take those looks to a higher degree.

I don't think Brice is a bad prospect, I have him in the mix at #16....just better prospects there at #9. Could be another Bogey.

I'm worried about Toronto blowing up this summer and acquiring additional picks. Guys like GG Jackson, Bilal Coulibaly and Sidy Cissoko are prototypical Masai Ujiri picks.

You said frequency not shot quickness.
Brother what are you blabbering about?

Collin Sexton struggles to shoot a higher frequency of catch and shoot 3's. That is partly do to his set catch and shoot jumper being slow (because when he catches the ball he's rarely thinking I'm shooting this, he's usually holding and waiting for the defense to close out).

I also think it’s in part because he doesn’t get enough good looks to have a higher frequency.

Maybe we are just overthinking Brice being a bad defender as a Freshman on a young OSU team (started 4 freshman for a lot of the season).

If I told you the Jazz could get an elite shooter, elite scorer, 7' wingspan, big body, and 19 years old at the 9th pick who would be mad?
Serious question, where are you seeing a 7’ wingspan?

Really hope he goes to the combine because I really think he’s shorter all around than what he’s listed as.

The term "3 level scorer" is thrown out there a lot, but Brice is actually a 3 level scorer. His finishing around the basket could be better, but his mid range game and 3 point shooting is at the top of the class. 50% from mid range with only 17% of those buckets assisted. That's amazing, and he gets it done in multiple different ways. His 3 point and FT shooting was almost identical to Dick's. Dude can put the ball in the basket. While his defense and physical limitations are not great, he is a really strong offensive prospect. It's rare to see a freshman be this good at self created offense. I think he can be a Warren/Bogey type and a lot of teams would be happy with that.

While I still wouldn't draft him at #9 personally, I do think people need to step outside the groupthink here and open up themselves to different perspectives. Brice is an edgy pick at 9, one that I would not make, but it's not that shocking.
