I formed a solid opinion on Hendricks before most of the board even knew who he was.
Sir, this is Jazzfanz.Bitching about a draft where we possibly ended up with a top 3-5 player when our highest pick was 9th feels silly.
The board favorite is Lauri and I dont see myself hating on Lauri? Do you? I said he would average a career high this year.
You are acting like I post like the Upside dude.
I don't think a trade up was in the cards. I go back to the Jazz straight up saying on draft night that they would have taken any of the eight players picked ahead of them over Hendricks I have NEVER seen a team say that about a draft pick in any sport.
I think it was common knowledge around the league that there was a drop off after #8 and we happened to have the ninth pick, it's the most Jazz thing ever, so shouldn't be surprising. What I'd be more curious to know is where other teams had Hendricks, did everyone see him as a top guy in that next tier? Or were opinions much more varied? Obviously we liked George more than others, so great job there (I have to remind myself that we got him at #16 in my head it's always #10).
All that said, only Cason so far is really do anything to make us lament taking Hendricks at #9, so I'm okay with it for now. If George was taken between 10 and 16 and looked how he looks with us we'd be much more salty than we are now, all in all things worked out okay.
If Keyonte continues his trajectory, and Hendricks becomes even a rotation level NBA player, it's a successful draft. Maybe even a great one.
It was definitely odd when they came out and said that. Like you said, I've never seen that said in any sport either.
I think it was actually considered a 9 man draft, but if you wanted to call it a 8 man draft Hendricks was absolutely included in the 8. The 9th guy would have been Cam. Bilal was a late riser. Hendricks was getting a lot of buzz at 5 and 6 IIRC.
Who would you have picked instead, assuming you could not trade up?I formed a solid opinion on Hendricks before most of the board even knew who he was.
JHS for sure. Dick would have been my next pick.Who would you have picked instead, assuming you could not trade up?
Why don't you ever talk about how they are doing, instead of picks taken before Hendricks?JHS for sure. Dick would have been my next pick.
JHS has been injured since early October. Not much to talk about. Would be cool to see him in the G_league.Why don't you ever talk about how they are doing, instead of picks taken before Hendricks?
I mean JHS was *** in preseason but it was real quiet around here. Even if we took him and he was healthy he'd be in the G League.JHS has been injured since early October. Not much to talk about. Would be cool to see him in the G_league.
Dick just started for the Raptors. His stats are booty cheeks to the maximum, but he's at least getting on the court and looks the part.

How do we know this is correct? It is certainly not corroborated by any actual evidence. The top 8 teams all picked in the top 8, no one wanted to move. If any team had wanted him at 5 or 6 then the Jazz should have been just fine saying they were one of those teams after the fact, but they did the exact opposite. This is correct.
