If it helps, we have a top-30 player that all 30 teams would love and we're going to keep in prime shape. We already have a stable of young talent and some of them might pop later, saying nothing of the draft pick this upcoming year.
Wizards youth movement ain't looking terrible with Coulibaly, Sarr, Carrington, Poole, etc.
My point is they started from scratch with no bounty of picks or prospects.
The supposed cellar dwellers (Portland, Brooklyn and Washington) have 2+ wins already. We will probably break that mark somewhere in December.
When I sim it I almost always get 5th. That would be very disappointing. We are definitely finishing this season in the bottom 3. So regardless we will end up having a 14% chance at Cooper Flag.
Isn't a year of unwatchable basketball worth it for that 14%? Especially since no long term full bore tanking team has won a title in 20 years?
I think we will quickly forget this season If we land in the top 3 picks, preferably top 2. Though, it would be awesome to finally draft at number 1. I think we should have been more aggressive with the tank last year. I really would have liked a better chance at Wemby.
