2024-25 Schedule Released

I expect Charlotte to tank. They should anyway. They still dont have The Guy on that roster imo.

That’s the thing though. Unless there is some unnatural break between teams 9-11 there will be a few teams in the play in mix and they could be one. A few teams will be seduce by chasing the 10th seed and not pulling the plug. If Charlotte gets a healthy Ball they have Ball bridges miller and a few decent role players. That’s enough in the East.

I can totally see how CHO ends up bad and very tanky again, but as long as Ball is healthy they can probably be a play in team. They were a play in team during Ball's first two seasons and fell out of it because he was injured. He's a real impact player when healthy. They aren't very deep....but the East being complete trash could help them get a play in spot. I'm keeping a close eye on them as a Sexton destination.

LaMelo is likely that guy if he can stay healthy. They shouldnt tank if he's healthy. I doubt they will win all that much, but I dont think they should be trying to lose out (unless they get to a point in the season where it's clear). They need to find out if they should invest in a LaMelo centric team.

I was thinking they were in the West so I was wrong anyways (the post I was responding to was talking about the blazers being our only tank comp in the West)

I wouldnt be shocked if Houston gets off to a bad start and tanks. Think they have a top 10 protected pick swap with OKC, so if they finish 11-14 they are going to pick 27-30

If they finish outside of top 10 and OKC swaps, they can then swap their pick with PHO. But regardless, they would have to move a ton of players to attempt to tank. They are legitimately 14-15 guys deep.

Yeah but they arent that good....

And they are not 14-15 guys deep. What a moronic thing to say.

Houston is in an even worse position than Utah is IMO. They dont have a true #1 option on the roster. They dont even have a championship caliber #2 option like Utah does.

Utah's best two players are better than Houston's best two players, point blank period. I'm taking Sexton/Lauri over FVV/Sengun all day. They are still going to overplay one of the worst players (who gets minutes) in the NBA, Dillon Brooks. Any positive projection for either team requires a lot of imagination of young player suddenly improving. I still am befuddled by some posters on this site who overrate their team so much. They have even more reasons to tank than Utah. We just think they wont because of ownership.

HOU's position as a franchise going forward (which is still really great IMO) is not the same thing as their position to tank/win games this upcoming season. With zero imagination of improvement, the Rockets won 41 games last season and had point differential of a 44 win team. They are deep, they've got decent top end players (FVV and Sengun were terrific last season), they've got experienced veteran players, and they've got loads of young talent on roster that could improve. The West is incredibly difficult this year, so no guarantee's they win more games, but I can't imagine them as a team the Jazz should be worried about in a tanking context.

Now a team like SAS....I could see it. A lot of their value is held up in a single player, and Pop sure knows how to tank. I think SAS is clearly a tier above the Jazz but it's not impossible to see them winning less than us as a result of a series of unlikely events.

This one goes too far. I can see them not being great because the West is stacked, but they are at least a tier or two above Utah.
Not at all. Lauri is just flat out better than anyone they have. And Dillon Brooks is very very bad. I dont think people realize quite how bad he is. He's like THT on steroids when it comes to the shots he takes. Yes, he does provide some great D, but the offense is truly team-breaking.

If Utah played a 9 tight rotation, they are a clearly superior team.

Dillon Brooks is far worse than Patty Mills or Drew Eubanks.

Comical. Based on your comments, you paid zero attention to how Brooks played last season for HOU. Brooks was a lower usage guy last season. And while you criticize Brooks for chucking, you are the same type of person to turn around and say the Jazz can be better because we have guys like Clarkson.

Dont you care about VORP? Go look at his VORP. Go look at what it is every season.

The Jazz would leapfrog the Rockets at literally any point they decide to cash in their assets for win-now players.
