2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

Besides Kessler, it is extremely hard to find destinations for our players. There are some that make sense, but there are better options for those buyers on tanking teams.

I think unless someone becomes interested in Svi/Juzang/Eubanks it may be pretty quiet on the trade front. I think Collins or Clarkson get moved in maybe a bigger multi-team deal where someone needs to make change for a $100 type of thing. Guessing Jordan's heel pain lingers for a couple weeks while we get guys some time but think we likely ain't moving him this year.

Eubanks is probably the only one I can see being traded out of our discount bin. He's established himself as an OK backup big over the past few seasons, will be getting minutes for us, and has a tradeable contract. Collins and Clarkson could be moved in a bigger deal, but I think there are much more practical targets besides them. Collins more likely to be seen as useful, but larger contract makes it more difficult to move. Sexton can MAYBE be traded for neutral/slightly positive value, but he needs to start playing better. Sexton is not beating the fraud allegations.

I think Collin is positive still. I just think you might get like a protected but real first and expiring money for him. The Terry Rozier type value... and I think he's really worth twice that if the team is trying to win and utilizing him the way he could be. I just think you roll into the offseason with a top 5 pick and re-assess Collin at that point.

I like having John Collins around. He's a pro and he dunks cool and he tries hard. If a big trade comes along in the summer then great.

I had mentioned trading Sexton for the exact same pick that CHO got for Rozier....which I think is fair value for Sexton. But I think teams could turn elsewhere first. They'll turn to Simons, Shroeder, Brogdon ect first. The Nets are probably wanting to trade their whole team rn.

I think we have to accept reality that there are no teams who are going to use Sexton the way that's best for Sexton. We're definitely not that team and I don't think that team actually exists. I can't really blame them either. I think he's probably overhated/undervalued, but building around Sexton is probably not a good plan.

I wouldn't say build around him. Just if we were trying to win you start him, allocate more possessions for him, play him 32 minutes a night. I think you are right about the trade market. Some of these teams are doing the Utah FAFO from the 2023 draft where they assumed they'd be bad. Only so much cramming you can do to tank.

I don't think Sexton has to be maximized per se... just run a few more possessions his way and play him the proper minutes and he will score you and efficient 20 ppg and make good basic passes. I wouldn't change my plans (like who I draft or trade for) because of him. ASSUMMING we are playing it straight and trying to win. If I was tanking I might yank his minutes around and send possessions to less efficient gunners... like we are.

Clarkson will be traded within a year. Look at my avatar.
