2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

Good rule of thumb: whatever Perkins recommends.... do the opposite.

I mean he's right about Kessler, but you'd literally have to be blind not to see that the Lakers need someone like that. No great insight.

As for Sexton... LOL. Collin would make LeBron retire in about 5 minutes. No GM is stupid enough to trade for him (see what I did there?)
Sexton is a Rich Paul client. Very much within the realm of possibility that he could go to the Lakers.

Sexton for DLO is a realistic trade imo. Expiring for Sexton is the only type of Sexton deal I can see happening. Not going to get a first, maybe some seconds.

Kessler is probably the only player that could be traded with real value, but for better or worse Ainge is going to set a high price and I doubt any team pays it. A premium first might do it for me (PHX/LAL distinct unprotected), but I dont think that’s on the table and also not sure if Ainge would accept.

Collins could be valuable to a lot of teams, but it’s difficult to trade him at his salary. Still love him for the Kings in particular.

Clarkson has clear negative value. Only getting traded for other bad salary…but what’s the point of that? He’s staying.

We've already chased tails here on Sexton so no need to do so again but... do you think DA would trade Sexton for expiring salary and seconds? If the answer is no we can still discuss it... I am not trying to say its a pointless discussion. I am just genuinely curious if you think Ainge would actually do it.

I think DA would likely pass, but expiring+some seconds is what is realistically out there.

I'd also amend my previous comment and say that Sexton for bad, longer term salary is also something I could see happening. If someone like Cole Anthony or Gabe Vincent ended up on our team I could see Sexton approaching the late first/early second type value we got for Simone/KO+Ochai. This type of trade is less likely to be out there, but something Ainge would be more likely to accept IMO.

Unless the tank is in danger I just roll with Sexton. I would accept something like that for Collins (reluctantly as he seems to have turned a corner). I just think we are likely not seeing much action unless we jedi mind trick someone into taking Clarkson.

I don't think someone is rolling out a good first in this market for Sexton. I think the price on Kessler likely is sky high with how he is playing.

Think its likely a boring trade season unless the tank gets threatened. Maybe a Eubanks/Svi or Eubanks/Juzang deal to clear some roster spots and time.

DLo and some seconds for Sexton is wild lol

At bare minimum get protections off the 2027 first but I think we could get their 2029 first maybe a little protected.

Yeah, no way we're getting a 2029 lightly protected pick for Sexton. The market for players like Sexton isn't great.

Maybe protections removed and a raft of 2nds could get it done. Maybe some type of exotic swap (Jazz keep the 2nd best of the Jazz, Wolves, Cavs, and Lakers picks and LA gets the worst of those four picks in 2029).

Sexton isn’t a real PG but LA doesn’t really need one and at least he’s not a dumbass chucker that will ruin your offense and lose you games. He also can break the paint which The Lakers could really use. He’s also a competitor and not an arrogant bum, again, something that is another clear + for them vs DLo.

I back @Handlogten's Heros point that unless he’s seriously hurting the tank then just keeping him probably makes the most sense.

Rozier just got one. We got basically a late first for Simone last year. A late first for Ochai/KO.

For both Sexton and Collins, I think we'd likely be better off without them. Don't need to rehash that convo, but I just don't believe good role players are not who you want on a team at this stage. For me, the state of the tank can't really be explained as a yes/no answer.

Of the two, I'm more optimistic about Collins being a keeper. I think he's been a better player this season, he's been a better player for the majority of their careers, and his newfound versatility makes him fit into a team easier.

You're probably right about it being a boring trade season. Besides Kessler, I think all of our "tradeable" guys are low on the buyers' wish lists.

If you did Sexton and Kessler maybe you get protections removed on 27 and 29 unprotected?
