2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

Rozier just got one. We got basically a late first for Simone last year. A late first for Ochai/KO.

I hate to be the one to break it to ya, but outside of the Utah Jazz fan bubble people just don't believe Sexton is very good or that he's a winning player. I would love to be wrong and actually get something good for him, definitely not counting on it though.

**** me, since when? Lakers fans think he’s their missing piece.

John Collins for Kevin Huerter + Trey Lyles could be a thing. Makes a lot of sense both ways.
It does but I think you'd have to re-route Huerter. So he goes to Detroit maybe for Hardaway Jr (expiring). I just have no interest in Huerter and think his value is likely lower than Collins. He was demoted and then got hurt again. He is shooting under 30% from 3.

I had mocked up Huerter to ORL, we take on Cole Anthony and get some stuff from someone. Idk what exactly stuff or from who.

Yeah I don't want that either. I'd rather have Huerter than Anthony. Especially if we haven't sent out Clarkson or Sexton somewhere already.

If we clear out Collins then we can maybe play in the FA market if we want or we can work the sign and trade route using Sexton JC.

I can see a three team deal with Collins going to NOP and Ingram going to the Lakers with DLo and stuff coming this way (Rui?) but Lakers need to provide the draft capital there. Maybe they would want Collins instead but Ingram is the bigger name obvi.

You could dance around the protections with the Lakers. Like move it from 4 to 3 or something for Sexton. For Kessler alone I would let them keep the number one spot and I would ask for the 2029 top 4 protected - that's a lot of value for us and it gives them something and they get a top 5 future center that isn't fancy but does all you need solidly especially the defense. It would boost the value of the pick but it would save Pelinka some face.

Here are the contract numbers for some of the guys being discussed - This Year, Future Years
Cam Johnson - 23.6, 21.6, 23.6
DFS - 14.9, PO 15.4
Shroder - 13, UFA
Lavine - 43, 46, PO 49
Patrick Williams - 18, 18, 18, PO 18
Vucevic - 20, 21
Collins - 26.6, PO 26.6
Sexton - 18.4, 19.2
Clarkson - 14, 14.3

Ingram's market could be so low right now. Shamit Dua on his pod was saying the Jazz were talking an offer of Sexton or Collins and Kessler. Part of the issue was BI wanted the BAG if he came to Utah and it sounds like things broke down from there.

If the Lakers don't come calling I am not seeing the obvious suitor. Detroit? maybe. Maybe they hope Brooklyn makes an offer in FA?

I'm glad he paused cuz BI on a max or near max is a disaster imo.

One super tiny thing I thought. NOP might not be willing to help Lakers because they own their pick BUT they sent that pick to Atlanta in the Murray trade... so small little benefit of sending Ingram to LA is it may make that pick worse and the GM might avoid looking foolish if Lakers slow down and end up missing the playoffs. Super small and not the reason to do a deal at all... but these dudes have egos and don't want to look like they got smashed in a trade.

My guess is Ingram ends up getting moved to the Lakers when he agrees to a lower than max extension with them. The acquisition price will be low but they may want a third team to help to provide different contracts and smooth out the salary mechanics (Lakers can't take more salary and NO wants to duck the tax). Some version of Ingram to LA, Collins to NOP, Russell/Rui with some draft stuff to Utah is possible.
