2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

New Sam Vecenie mock draft just dropped and he said he tried to distill it with his NBA team intel vs what he would do.

Yeah I actually went and commented on the article cuz Dillingham is such a bad fit and Sam said he took fit into consideration here. Ainge gonna keep JC, Sexton, Key AND add Rob... might even sign Monk in FA. Corner the market on these dudes.

Walter or Knecht or a trade are the pick if the board falls that way.

Given that there is so much perceived parity at the top of the draft, I expect draft boards to continue to be all over the place. There will be a ton of "flavor of the month" prospects. I expect more predraft "movement" this year more than ever as well as more group think.

I expect this and a bunch of ability to make deals. With less certainty on the prospects teams will be more willing to punt or take deals with more known commodities. GMs effing love certainty, which is partly why this draft is a nightmare for them.

Dillingham is a great pick if you are just looking at talent rather than positional need.

We've talked about this before, but I do think the draft is the one area where GM's like uncertainty. The draft is all about hype/hope, and sometimes the more you look at these players the more you see their flaws and the pipedream goes away. It's also hard to identify who is and isn't a certainly. In some ways, nobody is an known or unknown commodity.

I'm sure his response will be Utah needs a star so they take BPA.

I don't disagree. I just think in the first 4-5 picks they want guys who are obviously the most talented and want some consensus order or tier there. They want something to bank on. I think uncertainty might be the reason more teams miss in the 5-8 range and teams have had success in the range right after that... as they swing for upside with more uncertain prospects. If there is some consensus they have a bit of an alibi I guess. I think Ainge has done well with his convictions at the top of the draft. Brown was not like a consensus top 3 prospect and he obviously thought Tatum was the best player in that draft and was able to finesse his way to additional assets by reading the draft board.

I just think there will be opportunities I guess. Call it uncertainty, or apathy toward this draft or whatever. We will be able to move around and take guys we target to some extent... I think these opportunities are potentially the best places to use our bevy of draft assets most efficiently.

Not exactly sure what you're getting at, but there is no chance they like uncertainty.

They spend a lot of time and resources gathering intel so they can be as certain as possible come draft day.

I don't mean uncertain in terms of their draft prep, I mean that the draft is one area where team's will be open to tolerate risk.

Is Chomche a guy we could make a promise to that might stop him from working out with other teams or going to the ignite program? With either late pick? Or would his stock be higher than that if he actually declared?
