2025 Interview and Workout Tracker

It’s hard for me to imagine a more disappointing outcome on draft night than taking Maluach. Even if we end up trading Kessler I still wouldn’t take him at 5.

Jazz would be trading back to #8 with Brooklyn probably and getting another pick or two to do it. Brooklyn is likely the team that Ace wants to trade up for him.

I don't think the Jazz are likely to agree to it though. I think the Jazz should just draft Ace...or Fears...or even Kon....assuming Tre is unavailable.

I haven’t done too much Maluach if I’m being honest….and I don’t really care to spend hours debating whether or not the physical attributes outweigh the pedestrian stocks. He’s kind of a low potential archetype to begin with. Just not that interesting.

There are quite a few people I respect who have him in their top 5 though.

He's huge. He has a huge catch radius. He has power and some touch at the rim. He's very young. He's improved a lot in the last year. Maybe you believe he'll shoot one day.

I do think there is a Rudy factor with him a bit. Like I think part of the reason he didn't get a ton of blocks is people avoided trying him a bit. I don't have any tracking to back that up though so its purely eye test/guess.

I wouldn't take him top ten.

I feel like Rudy is just so unique though. Would be like projecting Tre as Ray Allen….which ok, not impossible, but literally one of the greatest of all time. Think Rudy would be in Walker territory averaging 5+ blocks per40 with ease if he played in NCAA.

Duke defense was insanely good, so maybe they just never made it to the hoop in the first place bc of him and their collective team defense. If he had a very low foul rate I would believe it more.

I'm not making a comp at all. I am saying guys drive and see enormous human who is athletic and decide to kick out or something else. Like I said it was more eye test and teams didn't seem to want to try him but I have no tracking info.

I just don't see the huge upside but have heard folks say he is gone at or before 8...

Jazz showing interest in Khaman is a bit of a bluff imo unless they move Kessler first. I think there is a chance Charlotte is interested there and may have a move back option... but if they are worried we might take him then maybe they just take him at 4.

Just one guess at a scenario that could play out.

For anyone that hasn't watched film on Maluach, it would be a disaster if the Jazz took him at 5 (not saying he's bad)

I do believe in Malauch's jumper. Honestly I do think he's going to be a great offensive player for a guy who can't create his own shot.

He had a lot of really high FT attempt games, but he also had weeks long stretches where he had no FTs. I think at the NBA level he's going to get a good # of attempts because most rim runners have high FT rates (besides Walker because he's scared to shoot FTs) and to be an above 75% FT shooter as a rim runner is pretty unique.

He takes 15 minutes to load that jumper up. Why would you want him out there shooting that shot and not at the basket. Not like he will attack close outs.

If the touch means he can do the in between floater stuff then it is nice but his hands aren't that great either.

Offensive variety is important

Malauch isn’t a bad prospect for like 6-7 playoff teams for a great add off the bench. My takes have always been in relation to us, or any non-playoff, early lottery team.

For those teams, there are just so many better upside swings.

Andy was on Locked on Sports and said the Jazz have been talking to the Lakers about potential Collins or Kessler trades. the Mavs about Sexton and the Sixers about the No. 3 pick.
