2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

The Celtics don't have a chance next season after the Tatum injury. It's basically a gap year for them. Their main concern appears to be dumping as much money as possible and maybe reload again in 1-2 years when Tatum gets back. By that time Jrue will likely be totally washed. He was already looking a bit rough at the end of this last season.

Bucks would basically have a two year window to win with Giannis who can opt out in '27.
The Pacers made it to the Finals, they have a chance in the East

I stole this idea from RealGM:

To Miami: Sexton, Collins, #43, #53
To Jazz: Rozier, Robinson, #20

Robinson is on an expiring/partial guarantee for next season and Rozier will also be an expiring. I realize Ainge drafted Rozier but personally wouldn't let him set foot in the building while he's under federal investigation.
Interesting. I like it because this upcoming draft has a bunch of players in the #10-25 range who I think have a good shot at being great players.

They'll probably make the playoffs if they try, and who know, maybe Tatum returns by then.

An idea that I came across....Sexton -> ATL. ATL has a trade exception from the DJM trade that expires at the end of the moratorium, so it's pretty much use it or lose it. It's large enough to take in Sexton. This would give the Jazz the potential to be a cap space team. We're right at the cap as it stands, and trading Sexton+waiving Martin+Svi would clear ~$30M in cap space. There's not anyone I would really go for unless you want to give Kuminga a Paul Reed type deal, but it would open up more opportunity for salary dumps and I think we'd get more compensation that way than a straight Sexton trade. Could obviously combine the salary dumps into one trade.

Another Sexton + Collins destination could be DEN. Christian Braun is expected to sign an extension that would be worth $30M annually. This would second apron them in 26-27, so they need to get off of MPJ's salary for expirings. Sexton + Collins for MPJ + Nnaji + Saric does them a huge favor in both helping them win next year and saves their cap in the future. Surely that is worth some good draft compensation?

I think you’ve been stepping your game up as a trade machine savant. HH, Bill Simmons, and I welcome you.

Nice. I was going to suggest Denver but didn't realize Braun was in line for such a big extension. They are likely stuck with the Murray contract too. It could make alot of sense to trade MPJ for multiple rotation players on expiring deals given their financial constraints.

Nuggets could potentially deal their '31 FRP.
