2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

Isnt JJJ expiring? Are they willing to max him? Will he command a max? Interested in the new CBA if we will finally see a pay-scale delineation between top 20 guys and the next 20 in how they get paid, even when they are still young.
He has one year left and they have been rumored to want a re-negotiate and extend deal with him... and have maneuvered that way as well. I will go ahead and bet they have already agreed to it basically. Not sure if there will be some big discount though.

Maybe. He is so popular in the market there and likely has more value to Memphis than other teams in part because of that. I think it opens them up for a year where either Ja stays healthy and locked in and they are a fringe playoff team with future flexibility... or he is hurt or suspended for doing something stupid and they are a tank team. I think they have too much functionality right now depending on what they would get in a Ja trade.

I am sure if Sacramento rolled in with a Ja trade or some other team gave them a big offer they would entertain it though. I'm not sure if the offers would be big for Ja right now... I'd be really worried about what Memphis knows that others don't if they are willing to trade him. He is like the Memphis Steph Curry to that market and that owner is a cheapskate.

I fully agree on the JJJ part of this though. They will re-negotiate and extend him and this gives them more flexibility to do that.

We will see what happens.
I agree. They’ll probably extend JJJ and keep Ja for now unless he wants to leave. And they now have assets to make other trades too, either this offseason or later.

It's why they decided to drop Smart. Also, they will probably get it done in time to trade him by deadline if they want. Even if they wanted to trade JJJ it benefits all parties to R+E first.

The guy we could go after in this aftermath is Aldama....whether that be through trade or clearing space and signing him outright. Thought he a great season last year that went under the radar. Could be the next Deni.

Hmmm... sign and trade into our MLE... send like a second round pick. Avoid the restricted FA dance and they get a TPE? Not sure what would meet their needs.

Maybe they keep his $12M caphold and then we do a Sexton for Aldama sign and trade?

I bet he gets MLE type money but just offering it up doesn't necessarily get him since the caphold isn't much different than what his salary would be.

Looked at their cap situation... I think they would need to waive the capholds for all their FAs to get to the cap space needed unless they find a home for Clarke, KCP, Anthony... without taking on salary. So maybe a straight MLE offer wins the bid on Santi. Unless Brooklyn comes in... which I could kinda see.

Been thinking about it, and I think our bets chance is just by trading Sexton into ATL TPE and the S&T Santi into our S&T or sign him in cap space. I guess we can't get around having to compete with BKN as the best destination, but Santi is a player I'd really like to have going forward. Versatile, winning, and two way player.

I think he may end up unrestricted though and they may have to waive his caphold to extend Jackson.

They can create about $5M in space after waiving capholds. May not be enough. We could help them by taking some salary and having them trade back to 21 maybe. I think they need one more move... even if its a waive and stretch of like Konchar or Anthony.

One of my favorite lines that Locke kept selling. Then you take like 30 seconds to fact check and its so so dumb.
There’s a guy in this draft that we are really high on but won’t draft. But be sure that in 3-4 years we will find out we were really high on him. I’m going on record NOW that that’s the guy I want us to take and I’m high on him NOW.

Follow up Grizz trade... Cole Anthony and Konchar and 16 for Jordan Clarkson and 21. Saves another 5M this year to move back 5 spots. Saves 6M next year. I'd love to move up 5-7 spots on the cheap but not sure we can get it done.

Nah, they gonna really want Coward or Clifford.
