2026 NBA Trade Discussion Thread

I don’t see people dying saying they need to protect their minutes for development. Seems like a small portion of the fan base you’ve found or seen and are clinging onto. I really don’t see it anywhere.

I have this conversation and see this development angle presented everyday. But I'm not gonna debate you on that, it's not important lol. My post had nothing to do with being "wired to win" or the vets driving wins. I don't understand how that's relevant to my post or how to respond to it. I agree with both statements. The vets don't make us win a lot and Hardy (and other coaches) are wired to win. Those ideas don't contradict anything I said.

You said people are defending their minutes like it’s a bad thing. I merely explained why someone might do that.

If you defend their minutes because it's for development, I'd disagree with you and that's why I mentioned it. If you're saying that Hardy is playing them because he's wired to win and not necessarily for development, I'd agree with you. Those aren't competing ideas. Ironically, the ideas you and TU have brought up compete with each other more than they do my own post.

Ok, sounds like we’re on the same page. Still wondering where people are saying it’s for development tho.

I'm going to be very very real and say that

Keyonte
Grimes
Ace
Lauri
Walker

The 6th pick
Filipowski
WCJ/Collier
Some bench player signed with cap space

Can win like 45-50 games, but they're getting absolutely smoked in the postseason, lol. Like a 4-1 first-round exit each year. Not a super inspiring way for a four year tank to end. Obviously looks much better if the Jazz jump into the top 3.

It’s a good thing you’re locked into a roster for the end of eternity.

But yeah, the “four year tank” leaves a lot to be desired in large part because we’ve only really tanked for one year. We’ll see about how the rest of this season and the lotto goes.

I mean, I don't know how many moves we can really make once we've signed Lauri, Kessler, Keyonte, and Grimes to big money.

When did lifelong, untradeable contracts become a thing? This idea that next year’s team must be the same team for the long term is a fallacy.

TOR is just barely over the tax and can’t score/shoot. Would you trade Brice for Dick/Ochai? I’m a Brice believer, but if he has a future I don’t think it’s here. This would be kind of a trash for trash kind of trade.
