At this point they need to pick a lane, IMO. Jimmy should miss next year at this stage in his career and where the “recovery” timetable is gonna fall. After next season, he’s a free agent.Gonna be interesting to see if GS or NY do anything. Knicks are a mess and GS lost Jimmy. Wonder if the Warriors just punt another prime Steph year.
Does Markkanen, who’s having a very solid season after a struggle in 2024-25, really want to stick around during Utah’s endless tank? Wouldn’t the Jazz think about cashing out on his value, finally?
They don't have the assets it would take to make Ainge blink. Should send a more budget friendly offer out for MP jr.![]()
The Warriors lose Jimmy Butler — so how about a big offer for Lauri Markkanen?
Golden State came close to landing the Jazz star two summers ago but couldn’t get Utah to agree on the return.sfstandard.com
Could Svi be a possible Warriors target given Jimmy Butler's injury?
Ugh just realized I put this in the wrong thread again. Sorry!

This is fascinating. Was perusing a Timberwolves forum after their devastating loss to the Jazz and there was a bit of interest in trading for Collier to solve some PG issues and get salary relief. A few things that were suggested:
Dillingham, TJ Shannon, Conley, unprotecting top 5 2029 1st for Isaiah Collier + payroll relief
the Utah angle for Collier + Svi or Filipowski
Mike Conley and Rob Dillingham to Utah (along with unprotecting the 2029 FRP) for cap relief
Rob, TSJ, Miller, and 2 SRP
for
Collier, Sensabaugh, and Love
If we could get Walter Clayton Jr, the Jazz #18 pick, sure, that would be great, but it likely negates the main reason we would gamble those top protections.
This deal isn’t about a decent back up PG like Collier - it’s about paying UTA to absorb $17 mil in salary from us this season. That doesn’t just save the owners $40 mil in cash, which I hope they would reinvest in salary in the future. Getting below the luxury threshold this year sets us up to go OVER the lux the next two years to keep this team together, or at least not be forced to bust it up for financial reasons if we look like a contender.
I think there is all sorts of flexibility for Connelly to negotiate when he talks to the Jazz. We can send out some combination of Conley, Dillingham, Leonard Miller, TJ Shannon, 2nds, and alterations of pick protections. On 1sts UTA already owns. UTA can send out Collier, Svi Mykhailuk, Clayton, Sensabaugh, Filipowski, cutting Kyle Anderson, Love, or somebody, 2nds, alterations of pick protections, and payroll relief. Maybe we could get Clayton, but the Jazz would likely be more attached (even though I bet they didn’t expect Keyonte George to be this good when they picked him in the draft!), and even the slight $1.35 mil more that he makes than Collier makes it much harder to duck the lux, and that’s the goal. Maybe the Jazz like Dillingham and Shannon’s potential so much, no pick protection decrease is needed?
Once again, not my suggestions. Just something some here might find interesting/amusing. To be honest, other than unprotecting the 2029 pick and being very mildly intrigued by Shannon Jr. they don't really have anything that interests me.
That's interesting. I thought TSJ was good for them but haven't watched a lot. I'd probably do that. Don't love Brice in that deal too.
