2026 NBA Trade Discussion Thread

I consider the #1 pick this year to have some mystery about how good they will end up being but I'm certain they will be good. Flagg and Wemby weren't very mysterious to me before they were drafted either.
We can agree to disagree though.
Some stats comparison between AJ and Flagg freshman seasons per 40 minutes.

AJ PPG: 28.3
Flagg: 25.0

AJ Efg: 57.9%
Flagg: 53.3%

AJ rebounds: 8.6
Flagg: 9.8

AJ assists: 4.5
Flagg: 5.5

AJ steals: 1.7
Flagg: 1.8

AJ PER: 28.9
Flagg: 30.4

AJ 6 foot 9 210 lbs
Flagg 6 foot 9 205 lbs

Flagg much younger though.

AJ is a great guy and very coachable and a hard worker. He has a lot of room to get a lot better (mainly though shooting improvements despite his efficiency already being amazing)

Most people have Peterson ranked even higher than AJ.

The fact that the #1 pick from this draft will be very good isn't a mystery to me.

If I got the #1 pick, and I knew I had Keyonte, AJ, Ace, Lauri. and Kessler locked in with a max salary slot available and a load of firsts coming in, there is nothing I would do to screw that up. That's the dream. That's the team I want to build, follow, and cheer for. There is nothing that another team would be willing to part with (Jokic and Wemby aren't getting moved) that would be worth even taking the phone call for.

With the bucks now entering the tank race and the griz likely entering it as well over the next week we are entering the don't **** around zone. I think we all have grown to love Nurk over this short period of time but he's just too damn good. When we have him, Lauri and Key playing at the same time we are going to be very competitive. If I'm the jazz I'm shopping him to a contender so that he can compete for a title this year but also telling him that we are going to go after him in free agency. The deal I have in mind is Nurk to the thunder for Joe, Dieng, our pick back which is very unlikely not to happen and the thunder 1st which will probably be the 30th pick. Nurk helps the thunder to shore up their front court depth to make another championship run. For us we get worse while getting a cheap look at Dieng and 30th pick and no longer have to anxiety about losing our pick although it would highly unlikely after moving Nurk.

Nurkic is not returning that kind of value at all.

One thing about Giannis. Currently when he plays he's a 1st team player. He's had a bunch of small injuries here and there throughout the last few seasons. He's not a Lebron indestructible force that way. With the way he plays. I would be very worried he'd have injuries at the wrong times and would need to be managed. Putting that many prime assets in one basket would be insane to me.

Comparing Mike Conley to Giannis is a crime
Is it because Giannis is a robot or otherwise non-human? Both of them would be about the same age at the start of their first full season in Utah, at 32. That is exactly the age when many good basketball players start having recurring injuries that really affect their production.

And it is especially common for bruising big men: Howard, Cousins, Embiid, AD, Kenyon Martin, Shaq, even our own Kevin Love... The list is pretty long.

Rolling the dice on a 32-yo physical big is pretty risky.

He's the Greek Freak, not the Greek Regular Person

Lets say tge Jazz got #1.

They are drafting either DP or AJ

I think in 3 years

George
DP
Ace
Lauri
Walker

Could compete against OKC as they will have to make important cuts on their depth.

In 3 years

George
???
Lauri
Gianni
Walker

Will also be aging out and I dont think they could beat OKC.

With the pick the Jazz have a better shot at being in the finals than with the trade.

Ok, so how about listening to what the Greek Freak said today?

“Probably the next steps will be, go to (an) MRI tomorrow. After the MRI, they’ll tell me, probably, I popped something in my calf, in my soleus, something. They’ll probably give me a protocol of four to six weeks that I’ll be out,” Antetokounmpo said after the game. “This is from my experience being around the NBA.”

You draft Wagler.

I am prepared for the most lame trade deadline ever.
