2026 NBA Trade Discussion Thread

Locke is a little dumb sometimes.

Milwaukee will want Ace and our ‘26 just to pick up the phone (which might actually be preferable because the alternative is trading our own picks which means you’ve crossed the Rubicon of having control of your future and are just kind of locked into your fate for at least half a decade which I never want to do again).

I 100% accept yours and others premise that Milwaukee will wait until the draft because they will likely get better deals by waiting.

BUT, in the imaginary scenario where they decide to trade Giannis at the trade deadline, I think the Jazz could build a better package than most while not having to give up everything. One of the advantages over the stuff I'm hearing from other teams is that our foundation is expiring salary vs bad contracts, rookie contract players, and a bunch of 2027 picks which are closer in than other teams can give them. Based on our foundation, in this imaginary scenario, we might have to give up less than one might think.

I saw some where of people throwing out make a huge offer for Jalen Williams. That would be crazy.

I dont.know what the offers where except a lot of picks. I think i remember George (no go for me).

I dont even want to trade Ace.

I like the future of

George
Ace
26' pick
Lauri
Kessler

Going forward

I like a '26 free agent

Sensabaugh
Williams
Filipowski
Collier
WCJ

Maybe Hendricks.

I think that has some contention potential with more players development.

This would be my dream scenario

Draft Peterson
Offer a big contract to Eason

George, collier, WCJ
Peterson, Sensabaugh
Eason, Bailey, Williams
Lauri, filipowski, Hendricks
Kessler, nurkic,

OKC and BOS are run by spreadsheet enjoyers. Their spreadsheets would tell them to try to trade Jalen and Jaylen. I wonder if one of them has it in them to offer one up in a Giannis trade.

There seems to be a ton of talk about the Knicks wanting to get off Yabusele's contract which is only 5.5mil with a 5.75mil player option for next year. I don't care about him but I do care about Pacome Dadiet. I loved him in the draft and he is still only 20. I wonder if they would attach him to get off Yabusele. Between the 2 we would save them a ton in luxury tax money. If they want some production back then I'd offer Svi.

I liked Dadiet in the draft as well, but I don't currently think he's a better prospect than any of our rookie contract players. We probably already have more projects moving in to next season than we are going to be able to properly develop.

Curious for the locals what the scuttlebutt is.

I imagine we'll cull some combination of Nurk / Love / Svi for a heavily protected 2nd in 2057. Beyond that I suspect we'll be quiet as a church mouse.

I don’t have thoughts about Dadiet in particular, but this is probably the last year we have lots of minutes to do a trial run. I strongly believe that “developing” is mostly about acquiring/revealing talent. IMO, we should really dedicate more minutes/roster spots to prospects just to see how good they are because we won’t be able to do that next year.

I think we should be very open to adding prospects and approach the rest of the season with an OKC esque “throw **** at the wall” strategy.

I over hyped Dadiet more than anyone, but he has shown 0 signs of life. Jazz aren't in a position to rescue players unless their skill-set is clearly what the Jazz need (defense at this point). We still have Harkless laying in wait.

35 games left with a goal to lose as many as possible. There really is no better time to trial players than now. Harkless/Oscar should be on that list. But we really don’t need so many roster spots taken up by the Unc’s. If things go right, we won’t have this opportunity again.

They’re gonna trade him to LA and then win the lotto
You forgot the "for a broken down former blah blah blah and a ham sandwich" part.

It honestly would not surprise me if the league figured out how to get Giannis to LA. Build the next superteam in the most profitable city.

One big we should definitely look into picking up is Charles Bassey. He is with the Sixers now, but if they don’t sign him for the rest of the season he is a great fit for Hardy’s system.

Daishen Nix is also still out there. If Harkless doesn’t work out, he’s another defensive guard to trial. Also, why not both?

As far as trade targets, the draft busts I could see being traded are:

Sochan
Carter
Knecht
Howard

Been thinking about this notion of trading for him now. I think I like it because it seems like it’s a way to keep this year’s pick out of the conversation.

-Nurk/Anderson/Niang + Ace (he has to be)
-virtually the entire Jazz draft through ‘31 (~6 picks and 2 ~swaps)

For

-3 Antetokoumpos

We tank our asses off and hopefully get lucky (they would likely be the source of all ongoing internal improvement over the next four years but at a relatively low cost). Giannis probably doesn’t play this year as he honestly just shouldn’t since this is starting to look like an Achilles risk.

Milwaukee’s going to need a bird in hand (especially if they’re not getting a ‘26 pick) so they get Ace which I think allows us to keep any draft stuff (and who I think is going to be prominently featured leading up to the deadline). I would like to keep one of the ‘31 picks. Maybe they can pick between getting Walker or getting any ‘31 picks. Maybe we send some young talent in the deal and return players Milwaukee does not care about?

And then there’s the factor of whether Giannis stays or not. Yeesh.

I think I do it.
