9/3 Games thread US

Going back through the game, mostly highlights, Team USA isn't prepared. They can't defend the pick and roll, and they're missing defensive assignments left and right. Turkey was better coached and much more prepared.
It's almost like European teams play together more or something.

Need olympic melo doe!!!

In all seriousness,

Team USA is talented as hell, but team work beats talent. I dont think they can take gold this time....but thats ok.

Nah 2004 has that name claimed... or maybe Pierce led 2002 team who failed to even win a medal at home in Indianapolis?

Are you sure? I mean this team Plumlee on it. Marcus Smart isn’t even a starter and why the heck is Derrick White on the team?

It’s a very mediocre roster.

Well I think it's also the youngest ever USA team (since they started using pros)
Our best offensive player is 22 y/o Furkan Korkmaz, who has little to no experience of such games. He by the way was a free agent a month ago and I tried a lot to let people know he would be a great addition to the Utah Jazz, even messaged Becky Lindsey. Eventually he resigned with PHI rather reluctantly}

USA's young players on the other hand have some real experience. I mean Tatum and Jaylen played at the conference finals. DM is the first option on a 50 win perennial playoff team. And so on.

I agree it is bad. But I am judging by the place they most likely will finish. While I doubt they will win gold I think they will do better than 5th place in 2002.

He isnt your best offensive player, cmon. Yall still have Ersan.

Looks like they'll likely face Greece in Group 2 and possibly Turkey again. Then there is a likelihood that they meet Lithuania or Australia. I think they will lose to Greece, and if they advance, to Lithuania. They have good talent, but lack passing and movement on offense. There were countless times when a U.S. player was wide open after a drive, only to have the driving player take a horribly contested shot. Poorly executed basketball.

Team USA simply have no idea how to play team basketball. No basketball IQ. They escaped cause turkey couldn't cope with pressure. Hey team USA how about passing the ball to each other. If ingles played with team USA they would win the gold easy.

If Joe was more high usage with the jazz I honestly think he would be better than Donovan. His IQ is off the charts.

What you mean by "better"? That he would be a better scorer? He is definitely a better passer and playmaker at that point. But while I don't question that Joe is a goat, mvp and not from this world he is now fresh and plays against far inferior competition. I think there were moments in the season when his usage was on the contrary too high leading to too much fatigue and drop in efficiency.
