If Rudy could just hold on to the ball, it would make a big difference in his offense. Strengthening his hands and improving his ability to catch the ball can be improved by practice. But apparently Rudy doesn't work on that or acknowledge this. Not only that but when they surround him under the basket, all he needs to do is use some force and go up with the ball and he will get the foul call. But instead he just stands there with the ball over his head and gets stripped.

I just watched game 5 again and Gobert was totally ignored in the offensive scheme, particularly second half. This is against a team that has gone small ball on us and we should be pounding it in the paint and instead we’ve gone three ball loco. Gobert is literally running around with his hand up calling for the ball and not getting it. Same thing in game six, where I assumed Conley might be able to get Gobert involved. At every level, you have to get your bigs involved offensively to keep them involved defensively.

What's crazy is that it defies logic that he hasn't been able to do it. You gotta assume the coaching staff has worked on it, but still doesnt make any sense to me.
Kraken is spot on. I don't really understand the Rudy bashing on offense, when he literally never got a pass the entire series. Jazz didn't make any attempt at all to get him the ball, and flat out ignored him many times when he was wide open on roles. I know he is not a traditional post up guy, but we should have made some attempts. Sometimes Beaverly switched onto him and the team made no attempt at getting him the ball. Rudy is also and under rated passer and is pretty good at kicking it back out to shooters.

With Rudy it is not just one thing on offense or defense for that matter.
Starts with the style of offense where unless the lob is there his position is not really looked at to be an option much.
Next coaching, they have to emphasize it to the players when they see it is being missed. (although some times it does seem like when they finally look for Rudy it is forced, ends up a TO so they then can stop looking)
Players being able to see, recognize and then execute the pass to Rudy and it seems like every NBA player should have that skill but it has become a bit of a lost art in today's game.
Rudy needs to be stronger with the ball, meaning hands in catching it and maintaining his positioning.
My biggest beef with Rudy is how much he gets pushed around, especially on the glass this series. I mean it happened all season but way worse this series. So many times he is under the rim and in some cases gets pushed so for under he's under the back board, the only shots you get in those 2 spots are made shots, which sadly do not count as rebounds or Rudy would have had 20 not 10. I get being limited offensively but at his size he should've dominated the boards more, 10rb is not dominating that's bare minimum when LAC go small. If he's not able to get the rebound when the other team goes small it should be because the other team has 3 people keeping him out of position which then should open the door for the rest of the team to get the rebound. Which is definitely a team problem the Jazz have (sadly Ingles is prolly the worst on the team in this aspect).

I also meant to add, I get it's hard to stay mentally and physically locked in as is needed when you don't get the ball, which was also part of the LAC game plan and so that played a role in Rudy really only having 1 game where he dominated the boards (game 2 with 20 I believe).
Also feel the Jazz could've gotten Fav's the ball more (when not matched up against Zubac at least) and he will almost always catch the ball Favors is strong enough to finish but unselfish that he would force up garbage and may have kicked it to the open 3pt shooter.

Couldn’t agree more regarding Favors. He is strong and has some p n’ r and post up skills and should have seen more than 5 or 6 minutes in both games 5 and 6. Gobert going 41+ minutes chasing wings out to the 3 point line is not a recipe for success!

Actually it’s a Charles Barkley reference who I love and find hilarious. That’s it. They poke fun of each other on tv and that’s ok but Shaq can make people feel like garbage on live tv (Donovan Mitchell) and that’s ok. He’s a bully.
