He also is a Star Trek fan.

Should I break the 6th commandment? "Thou shalt not kill" ??

star wars sucks.
they crapped it with the prequel trilogy, and probably will crap it with the new trilogy.
by the time this trilogy is done only 33% of the star wars movie colleciton will be good.

sometimes people should leave a franchise alone instead of money grabbing prequel trilogy and a new money grabbing sequel trilogy.

I never understood why any adult would like Star Wars. Nostalgia?

Anakin/Vader, Yoda, Luke, the concept of midichlorians and the ability to use the force are the first things that come to my mind. Despite the annoying characters, the technology helped the I-II-III and will probably help VII too. There are always documentaries if you can't stand fiction and fantasy.

I love fantasy and fiction. Star Wars is just about the most boringly conventional, and utterly commercial, set of movies out there. You can't go any simpler with the "hero's journey" than that. And to add that large chunks of the movies are there only to sell toys to children... I just don't get it.

Star Trek, while campy as ****, appeals for its spirit of science and discovery. It is great introductory sci-fi.

But whatever, to each his own I suppose.

New trailer looks great. Pretty much everything they have shown so far looks top notch and not cheezy or filled with bad CGI (the things that haunted the last 3).

Siro and Dutch are basically dumb. To each his own, but you are hating on a timeless trilogy of movies that still stands the test of time.

You want to hate on the recent 3, fair. I don't really like those movies either, but to try and put down the original 3 is just laughable attempt at being a giant douche.

If you want to say they are overrated, fine. It's hard not to be overrated when there is such a feverish, over-the-top fan-base, but to say it's "just about the most boringly conventional, and utterly commercial, set of movies out there. You can't go any simpler with the "hero's journey" than that. And to add that large chunks of the movies are there only to sell toys to children... I just don't get it." is just ridiculous.

i am not hating on the original trilogy, the TRUE episode 1 2 and 3. i love those soo much i refuse to call them 4 5 and 6

i am hating on the fact that the prequel trilogy was a money grab! and CRAP!

The funny thing is I'm not even a fanboy of Star Wars. I like the movies, I would give the original trilogy about a 8.5/10 if I had to rate it. You just show such a pretentiousness with your criticism of the series that seems to suggest you have very little knowledge of cinema despite wanting so badly have a different and radical opinion.

Nah. I'm just really smart, while you're pretty dumb. No need to get worked up over it. You can still like your dumb movies all the same.

Not really worked about it, more just laughing. While I don't think the majority opinion is always the correct one, there is a pretty wide agreement between both majority casual and dedicated film fans, as well as critics and those in the industry, that the original Star Wars trilogy is a timeless piece of film and one of the most important films in the history of movies.

I just don't get the reason people bash Star Wars movies for being too fantasy-related, a fairy tale if you will. I don't give a flying puck about this to be honest. I mean, why would I need to search for scientifically trustworthiness in a fictional movie while I could just enjoy its tale and atmosphere? If you ask me, Star Trek always stayed in the shadow of Star Wars popularity-wise and its fanbase gave birth to this "Star Wars ain't nothing scientific compared to Star Trek" notion.

Where Star Wars really excels IMO is creating a vast world that is rich in history and back-story.

I've never really been into Star Trek, but I think the appeal is that it's fake science is more sciencey sounding, right?

Totally agree on the common attitude of ST fans about the science matter. I think we live in a time people consider logic, science and realism so much more important than anything else that they cannot even stand fictional productions that do not qualify for the decent level of scientifically correctness. It's a choice. I like fantasy. My choice is that. It helps me ease off the heaviness of life maybe.

No, you're right it's a masterpiece. The cast is nearly entirely male, and they dress the only woman like this:

The climax of one of the movies involve teddy bears taking down the Empire with sticks.

Only $99 for the whole set. Don't miss out on a once in a life-time deal! But don't forget the accessories!

A timeless cinematic achievement in pew pew pew pew. Every adult should take such timelessness seriously! Pew pew pew.

That's only the tip of the steaming ****-berg of course. The ridiculousness of those movies know no-bounds. But it's okay. Chewbacca says raaaaaawr. Timelessly. $29.99. Batteries included.
