This is a pretty concise picture of everything that is just WRONG about being 19. And everything that is RIGHT, as well. Well, not that you're really 19, or anything.
So I worked for a man who is stinking rich. He had a company that wasn't paying it's way. He picked up the phone and called some helpful acquaintance over at Interior, gave a little nod with a smile. Then he called another friend over at the bankruptcy court, and got an "understanding ear". Meeting maybe for lunch somewhere downtown, with some nice envelopes to slip under the table. All set.
The BLM filed a billion dollar lawsuit against his company. The EPA declared a two billion dollar cleanup as maybe necessary for the plant. He then filed(for the company, not for himself) bankruptcy. The Judge ordered the empty-pocket company on the auction block against say about $200M in past due accounts and junk bonds. Nobody showed up at the auction, except my boss. He tendered an offer of $1 M to take control of the old assets sans the liabilities. The bondholders got nothing, the creditors got 0.5 cents on the dollar. The company never shut down. Some new legal work was filed, some new letterheads and forms, some changes in the headings on a lot of computer files, but everything kept running. Nobody got fired. Everyone woke up one day working for a new company, a new company that had no outstanding bonds, and was current on all accounts. Sure some suppliers refused to do business with it anymore, but new suppliers lined up at the doors. And even I kept working for him. . . . for a while.
By about three years later, all the billion dollar troubles just evaporated in the mills of "justice", and only the retirement pensions with the worthless junk bonds---- including my newlywed bride's 401(k), and some businesses were worse for the wear, and a billionaire had pocketed an extra cool $200M, minus less than a hundred grand in payola to the "right people".
There's a whole lot of things that just aren't right with this world.
If you're going to squawk, try to find something that matters, like having two candidates for President who both are cool with being in utter contempt for the US Constitution and your rights to privacy, and your right to equal treatment before the courts. Of course, it'd be better if you had someone who could actually do something about it to listen, too. . . . . Neither of which applies in your case.
I've seen some pretty smart people go down in flames trying to make some kind of point with management in here. Just sad to see you do that. I like to have a little fun sometimes, and you have offered me a little comic relief. If the mods have any issues with you, I'd suggest you just apologize for being your age and try to assure them that you'll grow up, given a little time. You're not going to change things here, but you can make a little difference in just being in the mix. Some of us like you. . . . .
