Another article favoring Kanter

He wants to go to Washington, let him. He's not good enough to have to deal with all of his drama/ego.

The best part of that article is the interview with KOC on the same page. He reiterates that the Jazz will be taking the BPA. The question is, will the Jazz consider Kanter or Knight to be the BPA?

The only team in the top 10 they are dodging is Milwaukee so it is ok. He has no problem playing here. I am sure they would want to see one of our bigs traded though.

His treadmill test was freaking amazing. If he's on the board and we don't pick him we are going to regret it big time.

I agree Archie. I have had worries about him being like Koufos was, but his work ethic is incredible which leads me to believe he could potentially be a really good player. Especially given his size.

The comparisons to Koufos are so ****ing wack. Anyone paying attention watching both would immediately recognize that Koufos was never really that skilled or powerful.

Even so, I hate to see agents manipulate the draft process at all. I suppose my dislike should be centered more on his agent rather than Kanter himself.

^ This. Kanter had no idea what had been done (I know this is true) and then took steps to correct it. Most (not all) agents, shoe reps, 'handlers', etc .. suck.

Utter poppycock. KoKo against the competition that Kanter played against was plenty skilled and powerful. Check this out from DX: "Ten days, that’s the amount of time Kosta Koufos spent with the Greek National Team before the Championship started. Only ten days to get to know his teammates, coaches and playbook and merge with them. And just ten days later, he started collecting the MVP award that credits him as the most valuable player in the tournament. Averaging 26.5 points, 13 rebounds, 3.5 blocks or 1.4 steals in almost 35 minutes per game, Koufos delivered an almost unheard of statistical effort in the last decade. Nobody has come close to producing those numbers in junior category since 1996. Actually, nobody except Sani Becirovic and Giorgios Diamantopoulos, both in 1998, can credit a better scoring average. Although already a well-known top prospect, this performance only boosts Koufos’ draft stock. If the draft was held tomorrow, he could end up being a top-5 pick. But he has a whole season ahead of him in Ohio State, and multiple games to, not only showcase his abilities, but also expose his flaws.

You could read more in his profile, which says how he worked hard, how strong and athletic he is, and so on. The bigger point is, scouts thought KoKo was top guy at that time. After he had a decent season in Ohio, they still thought he was a good prospect, but nowhere near top 5. And we are talking about a guy who has better measurements and put together better numbers than Kanter against same competition. Now some think Kanter is a top guy basically based on the same accomplishments. And yes, KoKo was considered skilled, big, athletic, and powerful. The only difference is that Kanter did not play a year in NCAA and actually lost big part of a year in development. Ironically this works to his advantage.

You spent too much time and effort on this post. Go and WATCH their games and tell me they're the same player. Even when I was high on Koufos, I couldn't come away watching his highlights as seeing anything other than he was bigger than everyone on the court and was just punking everyone else. I didn't see very much skill at all to his game, and beyond that, he fell from the lottery to 22 for a reason that year. He'd probably be a top-10 pick this year, though.

Watching highlights is all we got, and this is exactly the reason why there is no way you can make any kind of meaningful conclusion on Kanter. Oh, and on Koufos highlights, KoKo looked pretty good too. Had good jumper on highlights and good post moves. He even knocked down 3 point shots... Making your conclusions based on highlights is a joke. And in case of Kanter, there aren't any games to watch. Not the ones where he competed against half decent guys.

Conclusions are just coming from highlights, guy. They are coming from many "experts", "scouts", and "NBA" coaches raving about him.

I guess you didn't get it again. HOW you score baskets matters as much or more than IF you score them. Koufos didn't display a great SKILL level in anything I saw. Koufos guarded by chairs couldn't show the skill Kanter did against the best players of his age group in the world (Team USA). Koufos' great stroke always looked weird to me, too, and that never turned into an NBA skill either. Koufos was never that strong in his lower body, always had questionable hands, didn't really know how to use his body to create space, and never great footwork.

This is all subjective. There cannot be any statistical analysis. I'm just saying when I saw Koufos in those tournaments he just looked like a giant punking competition. When I watch Kanter at the NHS, I saw a guy overpower and out-smart better competition en route to a scoring record in only 22 minutes.
