Like who is Ante Tomi ? Is he like Gobert?
If he did come over would he be on a rookie deal based on where he was picked? or would it be open contract negotiations?
If a rookie deal that could be great. Sign and trade kanter replace with a cheap rookie contract on a guy that's ready to play. It would give us a good deal of muscle(money) in the FA market.
Tomic is going to be 28 next week. I don't think there's much precedence for skilled Euro players to wait until they're 30 to play in the NBA. It's pretty much now or never - or at least very, very soon.
And his supposed interest in the NBA may just be a contract ploy - his team option will certainly be picked up. He may be looking to lock up an extension or new deal before next season.

Yeah European players that wait until their career is almost over is always a bad idea.
Sabonis was born in communist Russia - he couldn't play in the US early in his career. And even if he could it was a different world back then.
Plus. . . I like Tomic a lot and hope that they bring him over. . . but he's no Arvydas Sabonis. Not even after Sabonis got hurt.
I think that the Jazz need to bring Tomic over this year if they want him at all. He won't need to start to be worth the investment, and his flaws will be no worse than any other backup big that the Jazz can acquire for that cost.
If they do, then I could see his contribution being very, very similar to that of Joe Ingles. And quite frankly, Jingles has been a Godsend for the Jazz without Burks and Hood. The past few games show just how much it helps having him in the lineup over Lilsap and Co.
I think he could be effective. Look at what Gasol is doing in Chicago this year, having a career year despite very little athleticism left. Granted Gasol's defense is spotty nowadays but Kanter's is flat out swiss cheese.
I guess after today he becomes even a better option for us to bring over after the summer...
