Anybody else think Alec Burks can be a 20-25PPG player with 30+ MPG?

Considering Burks generally only breaks that barrier when he is already playing well that stat isn't too surprising to me. He is getting there though. More good games than bad ones these days.

But he had a game when hayward was out where he played 37 minutes and only scored 9 pts in a win.... in that game he played great without scoring and helped the team win without hayward

True.... But a lot of those games also came when people were injured like last light and last season!!! So in those games he was most likely to get 30+ minutes!!!

I said it when he was drafted that he reminded me of a Young Wade. With another #1 scorer (Parker) we would have a step down of LBJ/Wade.

But those dreams have gone downhill the past 30 games.

20-25 might be a shade high, but I could see 18-20. On fairly efficient shooting %'s. There's only a handful of players who get to the basket as well as Burks does in the NBA.

Why Jefferson ever gets minutes ahead of him is beyond me.

I hope we'll see more of the core5 together the last 20 games or so. Would love to see something like that:

Trey - playmaker and spot up shooter

Alec - #1 option

Gordon - playmaker, spot up and defensive stopper

Enes - #1 post option

Derrick - defensive anchor

It might or might not work but we would know if these kids can play at the same time and still be effective(even off the ball), we'll know if Enes/Derrick can work(we gotta know that) and we could see if Alec can be a #1 option.

Good post. First, Thriller's comment made me chuckle. If only we had a throw away season to find out - lol.

Second you are right. Hayward is shooting 41% FGs, 32% 3pt and getting 17 ppg on 14.5 shots. Burks is shooting 45% FGs and 35% 3pt and getting 13 ppg on 10 shots. The both get to the line 4.5 times a game, but Burks does it in 27 minutes while Hayward does it in 36 minutes. Burks should be the guy doing the shooting and scoring on the team. Hayward is the better all-around player of the two - he rebounds and facilitates better than Burks - let him take on that role of playmaker and reduce his shots. He also defends better, so let him focus on that.

Also, forget about 30+, let's get him in the 34-35+ range like Hayward. He has a PER of 15.5, Dick's PER is 11.5 - Dick and Burks shouldn't be playing virtually the same number of minutes.

FWIW, in the seven games he's played 34+ minutes, he's averaging 22.6 ppg. Sure small sample size, but I think he's earned the opportunity to see what he can do with Hayward type minutes.

WTF? Did I say somewhere in that post Burks is a good playmaker?

(edit) as I read my post again, I can see how you perhaps you could have been confused. I was saying Burks should be the #1 option as a scorer, but that Hayward should focus on being the playmaker. IOW, I agree with FOJ and Primetime that Hayward should be the playmaker, spot up shooter and focus on defense. Burks should be the primary scorer.
