What's new

Anyone want to go fish Lake Powell with me tomorrow?

There are a few people who can fish walleye outside the spawn (I'm not one of them; can't catch even one of those ******** in their egg beds). A guy in my father's ward fishes Deer Creek nearly every day in the summer and claims to slay them by trolling about 1/3rd mph and running bottom bouncers. There's a guy on BFT with the exact same story.

It's too bad carp carry a bigger stigma than an American made car. I once though hosting an annual UL carp kill would be a great tournament but people just don't want to fish for something they don't want to eat.

1) Bottom bouncing is not fishing. It's not fun, it takes zero skill, and it just isn't fun.

2) If I could choose to fish any species and/or any time of year, it would be carp in the summer with a fly rod. Easily the most fun and most rewarding fish in this state, and it isn't even close.

Have you ever caught a musky, sir?

Several, all in Pineview, and only one of them when I was actually fishing for Musky. Not a single one of them ever made it to the net; all broke off or cut the line.

Caught Pike though, and that's almost the same thing.

So you've never caught one? I had one slice through my 40 lb steel threaded lead at Newton. My heart almost bursted.

Incorrect, *** cheeks. I've caught several. I have yet to touch one, though, so if you want to be a dick, then go ahead.

Yeah Bro, don't be a hater.

Just because his definition of caught is different then yours doesn't mean you get to force yours on him.

You use flies on carp? I once caught a carp on a soda can pull tab tied to a string. They were climbing all over each other trying to eat ice cream kids were dropping into the water at the marina. I dropped the pull tab in do see what would happen. One of the carp sucked it right into his gills where it became stuck and I pulled him out of the lake. What a stupid fish.

I like to catch and release bluegill and see how many times I can skip them.

Oh yes. Wooly buggers, hard bodied San Juan worms, back stabbers, and mostly, glow bugs.

It's all in the release.

And the wrists.

Hey, guys, I caught a huge *** Louisiana red fish. Almost reeled it all the way in but it broke my line and got away. Just like the time I caught the rooster fish that broke my line. Best two fish I've ever caught. Booya!
