What's new

Game Thread Apr 08, 2022 07:30PM MT: Jazz vs. Suns

Added to Calendar: 04-08-22

I will say that I don't see the point of Royce. He had 1 bucket tonight on 1-of-4 shooting. He had 1 rebound in 28 minutes.

What exactly is the point? He's such a limited player.
All the games show his stat line with 0 to no production, he just enjoys the cardio I guess and Quin has a hard on for him

Eric P is Donovan's best friend
People will come up with any narrative to come after Donovan. The whole "Royce only plays because he's Don's buddy" is garbage. If being Don's buddy is all it takes to play, Paschall would play substantial minutes every game.

Just another example of people making stuff up to blame Donovan for our FO's inability to do a good job.

3 points, 2 assist, 1...1... rebound in 28 minutes.

I don't even understand how this is possible. He's the worst full time starter in NBA history.

FO is not blowing leads, turning the ball over, and taking selfish shots. Donovan is.

It seems like most of the discussion has been about our offensive problems down the stretch, and rightfully so, but our clutch defense is still a problem as well. Even after a horrible quarter to that point, we still had a two point lead with two minutes left, but the Suns scored easily on every remaining possession.

I’ve said this before but most of us on here grew up with a perspective on basketball from watching the Stockton and Malone Jazz and Jerry Sloan teams. Donovan grew up watching the Carmelo Knicks. Over the years, he’s defended Carmelo when people pointed out the obvious of him being a selfish checker who is a net negative to his team because of the way he plays. Unfortunately, it’s never occurred to DM that this is terrible basketball. The idea is that you have “the guy” who will “put his team on his back” and “will them to victory.” It’s a good movie storyline, but not actually a very good winning strategy. So he views his job as precisely finding the hardest pathway and most difficult shots because those are the “ooooh” and “aaaaaah!” shots when they fall. And if they only fall 20% of the time? Well, that 20% overshadows the 80%. I mean, you can even wave away the 80% as “they’re difficult shots! They’re not easy to make!” I imagine in his mind he’s taking the shots that are accompanied with “Oh my! Wow! Amazing! Donovan Mitchell!!! How does he do it?!!” Just win the ****ing game. Unfortunately, his coach has, directly or indirectly, reaffirmed that her needs to be seeking out the “OMG Donovan Yes!!” shots.

I mean the front office didn’t go 0-6 or whatever it was last night… we ain’t gotta make **** up… this is largely on Donovan.

TLDR @MeloTheJazzKiller is right… Melo is still killing the Jazz.

I hope we could have capitalized on some easy free throws, but it wouldn't have mattered Phoenix was just playing with us. Bojan missed some shots down the stretch too
