One of the big knocks on Al is that he doesn't get to the line as much as he should. I think Kanter will get to the line a lot more frequently than Al does.
well and that Kanter's dunk is way less athletic then any of Boozer's dunks. What was the point? Plus it is of one foot not two feet and nobody is defending it.
What is this fascination with defining someone's athletic ability on whether or not they jump off of two feet? First off, there are some pretty darn athletic players in the league who you will almost never see jumping off of two feet: Lebron, Wade, Josh Smith, that sprinter with no legs who keeps trying to get into the olympics with those weird looking prostetics, etc. And second, I've heard numerous basketball analysts that say those players who can only jump off of two feet are at a disadvantage. Griffin & Howard both primarily jump off of two feet, but both can jump off of one. Derrick Williams on the other hand looks to only jump off of two feet and that was a concern for people before the draft. Obviously it doesn't matter a ton, but I just wanted to squash the notion that two foot jumpers are more athletic than one foot jumpers.

If you are a wing player, being able to jump off 1 foot puts you at a huge advantage. Williams was being knocked for being a 2 foot jumper because he wants to be a SF. Jumping off two feet isn't really an issue if you are big man, it may actually be better because typically big men don't have running starts to the basket, so being able to plant and explode more powerfully is handy.
Agree 100%. 95% of the rebounding and shot blocking are done jumping of two feet. Thats why I ignore max verticals from big men jumping of one foot as it gives you no proper assessment of their value. No step vertical is most reliable here.
That was not directed for you but for orangello
Well, it needs to be seen if they are tough as hell as I certainly did not see much toughness so far. Please explain why would you think JV and Favors would be offensive nightmare?
. JV doesnt have shooting ability, he has some post skills but he doesnt have a scorer instinct like Kanter. I dont need to be a magician to tell that JV- Favors is a weak pair on the offensive end, it is pretty obvious
I never said that Kanter is athletic. He has fast feet and moves well but he is not what I would call explosive. Same thing goes for Boozer.
well, have you seen JV play recently? How come he scored 36pts in final U19world championship game without scorers instinct??? JV has very good shooting fundamentals BTW, better shooter from FT line then Kanter FYI, and makes over 60% of his jumpers. He is not taking many mid range or 3pt shots but it is because he likes to play close to the basket. But to say he has no shooting ability is nonsense.
So athletic in your dictionary=explosive? Ok, that makes sense now.
