Best Places to Eat in Utah Thread

The Pie (very heavy and extremely tasty pizza)

Litzas Pizza (light and very tasty pizza. I even saw Larry H eating there after we lost that heart breaker against the Heat in 04. Anyone else remember that? A bogus foul called on AK47 as he blocked Dwade's shot at the end)

Hires Big H (I love their shakes and floats)

Brick Oven (their pasta bar and pizza is really good and there's always plenty of hot babes)

Smash Burger (their fries rule)

Octavios (best Italian place that I know of)

Cracker Barrel (their grilled chicken is amazing and their old store is fun)

I've never been to Wasatch Pizza but I've heard they're really good too.

This is a garbage post

Ugh. I’m not a fan of any of the chain burger places. Shake Shack, Smash Burger, Five Guys. They’re all mediocre at best.

Traditional fast food out preforms them. It just allows people the calm feelings of thinking they’re more refined in their palate and don’t have to condescend to stigmatized fast food chains. It’s kind of like the people “too good for Walmart” who will only shop at Target.

Not sure you guys have them out there but TGI Friday’s do a fat superior burger imo. And fries.

That said, I can make better ones at home.

Was reading through the thread. I know it was Utah in 2010 but are we now at the point where "Asian" isn't a category anymore? I feel like we are.

Some posts were asking if Utah had KBBQ yet. I'm happy to say that we do but, it's not exactly super good yet. My number one at the moment is:

It's really not bad if you stick to the pork belly and they're in the ballpark with kimchi, chopped fresh garlic and ssamjang at a self-service bar. This means you won't have to beg your server for things that are taken for granted at a real KBBQ place.

@Gameface

I know the owner of Mr. Shabu. He's kind of a weird dude but his restaurant is a huge leap in terms of shabu shabu game. This is a world class"ish" it shabu shabu place. the vast grand canyon sized berth between this place and local shabu shabu up to this point can't be emphasized enough. I and my coworkers frequented up until stay at home measures were taken. You are a man of culture and I love you.

I've been pleasantly surprised by The Kyoto Japanese restaurant on 1100 E and 1300 South. Nice atmosphere, and they do a good job of sushi, creative rolls, tempura, donburi, etc.

For pizza, The Pie at the U or Rusted Sun on State Street near 2100 South. At the Pie, I get thin crust and light cheese and not too many toppings, or it gets thick.

Red Butte Cafe at Foothill Village has good sandwiches, pasta salad, soups, and good entrees.

There used to be a pretty good Vietnamese place on State St. near 900 South called Mi La Cais, I think. They make a few good dishes with chicken and have crispy Imperial rolls.

The Grand America Hotel has a buffet weekdays as well as brunch on weekends.

The chop house on 1100 E. just south of 2100 south is pretty good, expensive though.

I haven't been to Red Iguana in a long time. Seems like there's always a wait to get in.

I like Tulie's bakery and cafe. I think that's a NY-caliber cafe.

This is nearly word for word the same as a post you made like 10 years ago. LOL go get some new stuff.

If anyone makes it down to Provo, Backdoor BRGR is really good. Well the 2 burgers I've had there. The Frank and Charlie, I assume a play on Its Always Sunny?, is like a burger and a philly cheese steak hybrid and was awesome. I also got some burger that was burger, with deep fried shrimp, kim chi, and wasabi, and ginger ... plus a teryiaki sauce or something. Was really good too.

You've been stalking me for 10 years? I don't know, I'm a creature of habit. I've only been back in Utah recently and the restaurants haven't changed that much. A bunch of them are pretty meh by San Francisco standards I'm used to.

I really like Wild Ginger.
LOVE me some crab rangoons.

Also, my wife and I have been eating at sweeto burrito somewhat often lately. We really like it.

My wife really likes Wild Ginger. I was good with it in the beginning but have kind of soured on it recently. There is a Chinese place on 5400 S 3200 W in a strip mall called Szechwan Express that is my all time favorite. Their Kung Pow chicken and chicken in orange sauce are my favorites. You should give them a try.

I used to eat there every once in a while. I'll have to remind my wife about them because the places she's tried lately have been really disappointing.
