Best small towns in Utah to explore?

I went to Eureka, Utah today and explored around for the first time and it was awesome. Had everything. Apocalyptic downtown/**** hole housing which you cannot tell if people are actually living in unless you go take a look for yourself, hills worth roaming around, weird *** people sleeping in weird *** places. Easily one of the most strange feeling places I've ever been, especially when I was hiking through the residential Neighborhoods. I couldn't believe that that town had been 40 miles away from me my whole life and I never even been there before. Which begs the question, are there other spots like this in Utah that I'm missing out on? Please tell me there are. I have the itch now and Fall is the best time to explore.

Those look kind of sparse though on first google image glance. I don't know if that would creep me out as much. The thing that really got me about Eureka is that it's deceiving. There is life there, but it's just not initially very apparent. There wasn't a soul downtown that I could see. I longboarded the whole US -6 hill that cuts through the main drag in town and didn't see anybody. Then I find this jail in the back of some building, it wouldn't open, so I messed around with the lock, got inside, and slammed into this cot that some guy was laying on in the middle of one of the cells in the dark. I about **** myself.

I gotcha.

So you would probably be more interested in Salina and Gunnison type places right.

Rural Eureka(that is weird to say)is like the towns above.

By the way if you're ever in Gunnison definitely try the drive in burger place. I forget what it is called but I love it. Plus they got casino carpet in the mens restroom awesome.

I'm gonna eat you little fishy...

I'm not sure I have a type. For instance, Park City is a small town that is obviously very interesting to explore. Not creepy, just awesome. Obviously there really aren't going to be any hidden Park City type places.......

Though in the creepy category, I think I made a topic on here asking if anybody had been to the Hilldale/Coloroado City Polygamy towns back a couple years and I believe I was the only person. Which I thought was weird because it seems like something people would be curious about with all the media attention that those places have had . But I haven't met anybody in person that has been there either. It's definitely worth checking out.

Have you ever been to Eureka, California? It's a little bigger and kinda creepy. The people there are IMO ****in nuts. Definitely the type of place that gives you that creepy tingling in your balls. Just north of there is Arcada. Arcada is full of hippies who have done way too much acid. Have a meal at the homeless shelter there for an experience you won't forget.

I haven't. Anything past San Fran - I've never been. Not too much in between L.A. and San Fran either. I'd say Barstow takes the cake for weirdest place I've been in California for now.

That's another thing I was thinking though. It would be cool to buy like a '09-'10 Old Man's Buick as a second car and just go to all those off the beat places. Something that just cruises smoothly and has those comfy leather seats and just use it for nothing but road trips. I'd like to put a good 30,000-40,000 miles(maybe not that much - maybe half that - maybe a quarter - I don't know) on a car one year just from road trips and then just sell it back. I bet I could do it without losing too much money.

Um, that's about it, besides Park City, but that is so passe.

You could always check out Virginia City, but that's quite the drive.

Everyrthing up spanish fork canyon rules

How about Brigham City? Is that place worth checking out? I haven't been to Ogden for like 12 years so at worst It would probably be worth driving there just to see how that whole area has changed.

Not small, not new.. but at least Moab is a departure from Utah norm.

Not really sure wut ur asking tho.

Moab is awesome. The thread is about kind of creepy ghost towns around. Since it is October and all, kind of creepy ghost towns is kinda cool.

Any new locations?

Salem Dream Mine area was awesome. Best done if you pretend you don't know English and ignore all the warning signs. Some cool trails up there too. Good caving spot. And it felt like one those spots where somebody from the government is going to drive up and harass you at any moment - that's always cool.

I've tried to set out somewhere different at least once a week, but the destination never seems to end up being the main attraction. I think just seeing the lay of the land of Utah from a few different perspectives has been cool because I stick pretty close to that whole SLC-Provo corridor most of the time - at least as far as being in Utah is concerned.
