Big 12 doesn't want BYU

All smack talk aside, BYU finds themselves in such a weird spot. Trout is probably the only BYU fan who "doesn't care" if BYU finds a home inside a legit conference. Probably because he's the only Cougar fan happy with yearly trouncings of Middle Tennessee State. Yes, Utah is in the middle of getting their asses kicked in the PAC 12, but at least there's light at the end of the tunnel. It's probably a train, but at least they still own the Cougs.

Would BYU be better off in one of the major conferences? Certainly yes. Is BYU better off now than when they were in the Mountain West? Also, certainly yes.

Your argument isn't untrue, but it's also a little bit of fools gold.

Of course BYU is better off out of the MWC from a financial standpoint, but as a fan, are you seeing any of that extra money? BYU is one of those rare cases in which regardless of how bad their money deal was with their conference, they still had the resources to spend whatever they wanted on their program.

And sure, you're on ESPN more now, but again I'll ask you, is that really a huge benefit to you the fan when half the games are against the Idaho States of the world?

I have to believe that if average BYU fan was really, really, really, honest with themselves, they would have more fun watching BYU play Boise State and Utah State in conference games as they battle it out for the right to face off with Fresno State in a conference championship game. I refuse to believe a November home game against Air Force for a chance to clinch the MWC North division title is somehow less appealing than a November OOC game against Idaho.

Yes, you're on ESPN, and yes, your program is making more $$$, but if you honestly believe that you as a fan are actually better off, then you are pretty easily duped.

Are Utah fans still that dense? BYU's scheduling was BCS level last year according to any strength of scheduling metrics. And it will be for the foreseeable future. They have deals with most of the Pac 12, they have deals with schools all over. There is no argument there. They are looking good for any year that is booked out by any program at this point. All of your issues seem to be that you don't equate Boise State, Fresno State, Cincinatti and all those types of teams as being as good as say.....Colorado. When in reality, they are better programs than 3/4's of the BCS trash that pretends they are good because they ride the coatails of the Alabamas and USCs of the world without realizing they still are only what they are. Just pure stupidity on your part, but par for the course.

If we're talking a decade down the road, then maybe there becomes an issue, it's not even close to being there yet.

BYU's strength of schedule is at least as strong as it was when they were in the Mountain West, and undoubtedly far stronger than it would be in the current Mountain West.

Here's the strength of schedule ratings for the past 10 years according to the first website I found with historical data:

https://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/ranking/strength-of-schedule-by-team
2004-5 50
2005-6 57
2006-7 62
2007-8 56
2008-9 40
2009-10 43
2010-11 78
2011-12 65
2012-13 48
2013-14 40

So last year ties the strongest schedule BYU has played in the last 10 years.

So yes, BYU is better off on all fronts compared to if they had stayed in the now watered-down Mountain West*: money, exposure/TV, and schedule.

* now if Utah and TCU were still in the Mountain West, and if they had brought Boise State aboard, that would have been a fun conference.

With the Division 4 scenario, or whatever they are calling it, why would the NFL ever allow that to happen? Not saying they have complete control of the situation, but surely they have some influence. If you're the NFL, you want the opposite. You want the highest level of college football to have 500 teams so that more amateur players can develop and show whether they have NFL skills or not. You don't want 20,40, 60 less teams. That's 2300, 4600, or 6900 players every single year that aren't being potentially being developed to make your league money every year.

Trust me, real BYU fans see what Utah did; how they sold their souls to be the third wheel, third place, wingman, slump busters. We don't want that. We have a future, hopes, aspirations. You tools are getting exactly what you deserve, and forever will. It makes my heart smile to know that Utah will never have Gold, and that the very best you can hope for is being the leftover dog **** that filters through the door mat of the SUCK12.

i got nothin

You don't need nothin', which makes all of their recent chest thumping and squawking so enjoyable. We've been on top before, and will be there again. They never have, nor will they ever.

Seriously.

Thank goodness Thriller hasn't muddied up this thread yet, because Duck is dropping bombs.

For some reason I imagine every BYU post is read with a lisp.

BYU is arrogant and self righteous. The Big12, and all the other large conferences, do not want to do business with them. See, BYU thinks they're better than everyone else, they think their TV deal, money, and moral high ground somehow gives them leverage when it comes to working with other teams/conferences. Well guess what BYU. No one really gives a rats *** about what you got. Sure, teams will use you for your TV deal and tolerate your insufferable attitude.

BYU is getting exactly what they deserve. They're getting picked last in gym class. You're the kid who's parents have to pay other kids to play with you. Why? Cause BYU is that dick no one wants to play with. Unless it get them on ESPN.
