Given who is making all the posts you'd think this thread was about Utah or something. Some things never change. :lmao:
It's so cute that you always seem to cry like a bitch any time Ute fans discuss your beloved BYU. I have no proble admitting that BYU interests me. Hell, I'll even talk Weber State football with you if you'd like. I also don't see anything wrong with being interested about a subject that will shift the landscape of college football in Utah, especially when you combine it with Utah's move to the Pac12.
If it bothers you that much, why even bother to come in and make snide comments about it?
TCU will probably never get a whiff of the Big 12. The other Texas schools will never sign off on letting them in because they don't want to compete with them for 4 and 5 star recruits. It makes sense. If you're one of the Texas schools in the Big 12, why elevate TCU to your level, thus making it that much harder to land in-state talent?
When the Big 12 goes back to 12 teams BYU probably has as good a shot as anybody, and maybe they feel like going independent for 1 or 2 years while they wait for the invite is worth it. I guess we'll soon find out if they're willing to roll the dice because the WAC going down to 6 teams seriously hampers BYU's leverage here. The more I understand about the situation, the more it seems like BYU needed that WAC-tie in for late season scheduling.
My official guess is that BYU backs away from going independent, stays with the newly reinforced MWC and finds a way to get their own TV deal on the side. Seems like a win/win.
Now reading this thread has been enlightening in that I didn't know the MWC made an announcement it wouldn't make any special arrangements with the Y but I think that may mean only going independent and letting the rest of their teams stay in the MWC.
The University of Texas announced today that the school has agreed to a home-and-home football series with Brigham Young University.
The Longhorns will travel to Provo in 2013 and the Cougars will make the trip to Austin in 2014.
The teams have met twice before with BYU winning both games. They also have a matchup on the schedule for next season in Austin, Texas.
b) Crawl back to the MWC and make no demands. (best option imo)
MWC would never allow that. If the MWC was willing to have all the cougs sports besides football then the whole WAC fiasco would have never happened. Now reading this thread has been enlightening in that I didn't know the MWC made an announcement it wouldn't make any special arrangements with the Y but I think that may mean only going independent and letting the rest of their teams stay in the MWC.
c) Purchase a time machine, go back to the early 80's and just tear **** up again.
The no demands part won't happen. The MWC commish was in Philadelphia meeting at the Comcast offices on Wed. for the specific purpose of trying to get them to make some concessions to keep BYU. I have no idea what that entails, but I've read speculation that they are seeking their home broadcast rights, which would raise their revenue significantly.
I just this whole thing to be over. The games are only a couple of weeks away now - that's what I'm excited about.
