I've seen nearly every minute of basketball Exum played in Summer League and FIBA. I've seen the potential which is why he was picked. He wasn't picked to be better than Marcus Smart this year.

Also you realize the Clippers game was here right...?
 
I love these previews. However, at the very least we are a better team than Philadelphia, LA Lakers, Milwaukee, and Orlando. Bill and Jalen are underestimating the upgrade from Corbin to Snyder.

ANY coach is better than Ty. Corbin coached like he was in a pickup game. "Hey, throw the ball to Hayward; he's our best player. Gordon, just drive or try to hit whoever might be open."

Don't discount internal improvement. It's doubtful Hayward and Burke shoot as poorly as they did last season. And Gobert is MUCH improved. Favors has been impressive in the preseason thus far, as has Burks.

If you look at last year, the season had three distinct segments:

1. The 1-14 start. Sure, the schedule was difficult. But the team was also led by one of the worst PG combos in the history of the NBA: Tinsley and Lucas. Barring another injury, the Jazz will be much better just by having Trey to start the season. Exum, as raw as he is, can't be worse than Lucas/Tinsley/Garrett.

2. The 18-19 pre all-star break: Ok, the schedule DID get easier. Burke and Garrett replacing Tinsley/Lucas played a huge part. Marvin Williams returned from injury and replaced Mike Harris. Jazz were almost a .500 team over that stretch.

3. The 6-24 collapse. There were a couple of late Feb. wins, but with no activity at the deadline, the players KNEW the "tank" was on. Except for Burke, the players just quit on Ty. It was noticeable. They didn't believe in him. They dealt with "tanking" questions on a regular basis. The talk in the newspapers turned to speculation about lottery odds and who the Jazz would draft. I guarantee that won't happen this year. Quin is the coach. He's not a lame duck. Players will give effort or they won't play. There are NO bad contracts on the team. Every player has something to play for.

Also consider that the roster is deeper. RJ had an abysmal defensive rating last season. Booker and Novak were as efficient as RJ and Marvin offensively and Hood gives them outside shooting. Sure PG is suspect if Exum continues to struggle. But even at that, the position will be stronger than last year. Garrett didn't exactly light it up as the backup, even though he was a HUGE improvement over Tinsley and Lucas.

So add just a few more wins at the beginning of the season and some at the end. It's not hard to see the Jazz as having a shot at a .500 record (they were playing that well in Jan/Feb.). Barring injuries, I don't see how the Jazz fail to win 30-35 games.

Also, was funny when he mentioned Hayward, Parsons, and Ryan Anderson... Ryan is a totally different player... how'd he get in that group.

Also, laughed at the Enes 3 thing, because that has been my big question. I can't figure out why most assume he can shoot the 3 well.

These are for fun... enjoy them as that.

It's probably just the people who have seen him in practice doing it.

I think all of our young guys will be better. Any coach is an upgrade from Corbin and I mean this from the perspective of the players. Just having that new voice can give them confidence. We also added Booker and Hood, who will have great impact off the bench. Jefferson and Marvin weren't doing much to help last year either. Overall I think Snyder will give the players a reason to play.
