Bill Simmons: Prediction No. 1: Utah tries like hell to trade up for Jabari Parker.

Hack, you should put your mormon glasses away. You are being way oversensitive here. I was NOT comparing them as a player. There games are not alike at all. Yes both are mormon and both are popular with the mormon crowd. My comparison was that both are tweeners, not the same positions but both guys you look at and say what position are they? Jimmer not a PG but too small/slow to be a SG. Parker not a SF too slow and not big enough to be a PF.

I never said they would have similar careers. I actually like Jabari but I have serious concerns if he has a real position. Because of these concerns I wouldn't sell the farm to get him. I could be wrong but don't act like I haven't made any good points or that I made a bad comparison which I haven't. You don't have to agree with me but your snide comments only make you seem childish.

Lol.

I'm not even mormon bro..

That's my point. His religion has nothing to do with this. So comparing the situation to Jimmer is dumb. When talk was going around about drafting Jimmer, I had the same point as you.

I'm saying draft Jabari because I believe he is the real deal. I'm not all caught up on his supposed weight issues. Or if he is a tweener. He clearly is not. He handles the ball and shoots the ball like a sf. He is a sf.

Vonleh couldn't even lead his team to the NIT, so are we holding that against him? No. So why are we holding losing in the 1st-round of the NCAA Tournament against Jabari?

Well I would be saying the same thing if Simmons was proposing the same trade to move up to get Randle/Vonleh because I don't think the talent difference between the top 7 players is that great. I value Burks more than most of the people wanting Parker. I see some franchises just throwing away picks and then later not having any when there are good drafts.

Well I am sorry I was wrong about religion influencing you but it does other people. SO we just disagree. You think Parker is better than I do. I certainly think he is a tweener on defense. Unless he loses weight, right now I don't see him being able to guard SF or PF.

yes I mentioned both were mormon but that wasn't why I was comparing them. I was comparing them because I think they both are tweeners. Again it is obvious that we disagree. I agree that religion shouldn't be a part of the decision so we agree on that.

Where we don't agree is that it does influence some people and that is why they want Parker more than other players. Nothing wrong with that but I think an organization would be stupid if they did what Simmons implies the Jazz would do in his trade conversation. I don't think the Jazz think like that.

He is a stretch four.

Like terrence jones, ryan anderson, chris bosh, carmello (at times), paul pierce (this year)

I agree he is a stretch four but can he guard a four. Do you think he could guard Kanter down low? Do you think he could guard fast/quick SF?

Is it possible for a Mormon to prefer Jabari independent of religious affiliation?

We can't be married to any player like this, that's when a team will fleece you. Burks looked like a legit first option at times last year, not trading him unless its Wiggins we're getting.

Another reason, perhaps because many posters are making it sound like Jabari is Moses and he is going to lead the Jazz to the promise land. Coach K was benching him because he couldn't guard people. The talk sounds similar to the AK is going to be a top 5 NBA player talking points. The trade that was proposed isn't meant for players like Jabari, there meant for players like KD, Lebron, etc. I like Jabari but I don't think he will be on that level ever.

I agree. Jabari is an elite scorer, but he couldn't even guard college forwards. He was so much of a LIABILITY, Coach K. decided the team was better off NOT having him in the lineup at the end of games. He wasn't even a "franchise player" in college. Maybe a better comp for Jabari is Boozer. He'll score, but he'll give up more on the other end. Certainly you draft him if he's there at #5, but you don't give up three other key assets to move up 2-3 spots to get him.

how is it too steep?

What's the plan bro? Just keep cycling through the years and picks hoping and waiting for the next Lebron to come walking through the free agency front doors?

What the hell are we going to do with a bunch of average players?

We won't ever be closer to nabbing a top player. You have to take a risk. We can't wait til the whole league knows Jabari is a stud. No one will trade him to us at that point. Nor will anyone trade any top player to us.

If Jabari ends up a top 5 player in 5 years that package will seem ridiculously worth it.

Foresight > Hindsight.

Being scared is how you never get anywhere.

THANK YOU. One of the posters that truly gets it.

This is a chance we've not had in a while, and may not have for many years down the line.

We need to make a BIG PLAY, and go for the home run. Parker is worth it. Wiggins is worth it. Parker will be slightly easier to get.

I'm tired of following this team with ZERO shot to win a title. At least by adding one of the top 3 I can turn off the lights, and have naughty dreams of championships.

This will go down along the same lines of when I stressed the crap out of trading for Harden then Bledsoe before they blew up, and a lot of people doubted how good they would be.

I don't ever pimp a player this hard unless I'm really sure.

The arguments in this thread against Jabari are going to look really dumb in a few years.

Thank god for Lindsey though. I have faith that he will pull this off. At first everyone will be crying about how much was traded, but that will soon turn to tears of joy.

That one game dude and it was one of his worst games of the season. Certainly a case could be made that he choked during primetime, but come on....dude is 19 and carried that team most of the season. He is a stud.
