Bleacher Report: Jazz Win/Loss Predictions

Some other 'columnist' from BR had the Jazz ranked 21st in his post, I mean 'article' yesterday.

I think this post from realgm is a more interesting post of random people's opinions of how the Jazz will do this year. Most of the posters had the Jazz not making the playoffs.

It's a moot point now, unless we can revive the sandwich as part of a S&T.

F that. Never bring him back under any conditions for any reason. NEVER!

Tell you what, if you are ever in my neck of the woods I will treat you to a ham sandiwch. Free of charge.

So last year, we had a broken team with Josh Howard, Raja Bell and CJ Miles playing significant minutes at the wing, we got outscored by anywhere from 15 - 25 points per night at the PG spot, and the Millsap-Jefferson combo that started most of the season couldn't keep other teams off the boards....yet we still finished on track for 45 wins (in an 82-game season). So, assuming we get more out of Favors and Burks, assuming Mo Williams and Randy Foye can hold their own against opposing PGs, and assuming that Marvin Williams does like anything at all, why wouldn't this be a 50-win team.

Because we are losing the veteran leadership and toughness of CJ, Howard, Bell, Harris and write4u.
It will be tough to make up the difference. Who will replace the turnovers, injuries, and hurt looks from the bench. Who will Coach turn to now when he wants to have a fight or even a media battle? Who is going to take these young players under their tutelage and show them how to throw a professional fit, be out of position, get burned on a drive, or miss wide open threes? That's a huge hole.

When the schedule came out, I did a month-by-month estimation and have the Jazz around .500 until mid-January (lot more road games) and then really taking off when they play 15 of 20 at home from Jan 14-Mar 1. And their road games during that strecth are all West Coast except for one against Minnesota.

Oct/Nov. 9-8
Dec 8-7
Jan 9-5
Feb 9-3
Mar 10-6
Apr 5-3

Total: 50-32

i generally don't make predictions like that in july/august. too much can still happen on the personnel front for both the jazz and the other teams in the WC mix. we saw how quickly dallas went from being an afterthrought to looking OK in the short term, or how much impact a solitary injury can have ona team's prospects. for example, if marc gasol or tony parker blew out a knee at the olympics, wouldn't that change things a little bit?

that said, i expect progress, so something north of the 44.7 wins from last year.

Can't Earl Watson get hurt again? Would that work? And we can ask Randy Foye to turn the ball over some. It's just that we don't have anyone to airball open 3s in close games right now.

Miles is close to signing with the Lakers. I'm holding you to this post.
Oh no. I never actually thought this could actually happen. A week of reading Bleacher Report? I don't know how I'll survive it.
