Boozer Agrees to Terms With Bulls (5 yrs/80 mil)

Obviously, we couldn't sign Boozer at this price, not with our current roster. Like him or not, IMO, he's a top 5 PF in the league. I love Sap, but he isn't Boozer, and he won't be. I think an interesting question to consider is, if we didn't have AK on the books, and you were KOC, would you have extended this 5 year 80 million dollar offer to Boozer?

Looking back, I think it would have been best if the Jazz hadn't matched Sap or extended Memo. We could have resigned Boozer and gone after a true defensive center and looked for a star 2 guard next off season. Oh well, it is what it is, the only thing to do now is wait and see what this current team can produce. I will be shocked if we get within 5 wins of last seasons record.

42 wins is about what I am expecting with this roster. As much as I believe in having a deep bench and having a good regular season record, I'm thinking more and more the starting 5 is about the only thing that matters, and the Jazz have 1 stud and 6 guys who are semi-decent. Let's not kid ourselves here guys, we just lost our second best player. Sure we will have that money to spend later on, but we've got to convince an absolute all star big man to come to Utah before Deron's deal is up or we'll be in pretty rough shape.

Jazz will be better without Boozer!

I did not read this whole thread, title, or 200+ posts....

Jazz will be better without Boozer! Millsap won't have to worry about Boozer calling out for "his" boards, Kirilenko won't have to worry about upsetting Boozer's offensive flow with his random/creative cuts, everyone else on D (especially any big men we get) won't have to cheat to help cover up for Boozers mistakes. Repeat, Jazz will be better without Boozer!

I couldn't disagree with this post more. I don't think Carlos was our 2nd best player. I don't think the Jazz should have signed Boozer to this contract even if they had 50M dollars to spend. This is going to be an AK'esc albatross of a contract from day 1. He is not going to put up 20/10 in a different system than this one and he is not worth this contract now or ever.

The one thing I'll give you is they should not have extended Memo. Besides that your pretty much wrong IMO.

@ gregbroncs- Then who is our second best player? I didn't say he was worth 16 mil per, I asked if other posters thought he was worth it. I also didn't say this wasn't a bad contract for the Bulls, I asked if it would have been a bad contract for the Jazz, if they had the money to spend. Maybe he won't be a 20/10 guy for the bulls, but he was for the Jazz. Douche.

True dat... true dat.

Jazz need 2 more stars, other than Deron. Deron is not Kobe. He needs as much help, if not even more, than Kobe does. So just Booz or Bosh alone wont help. Jazz need 3 stars and 4-5 solid role players.

Thats because the Jazz aren't the Lakers. but thats another discussion..

And you can win with 2 Superstars. See: LA. They have 4-5 really good role players and 2 superstars.

Nah, you're overthinking it. To be a true contender you need a playmaker, shooters to stretch the floor, and post defense/rebounding. Unfortunately, Utah now has only one of those three ingredients.

There was no other way...
With AK on Jazz roster, there was no money to pay Boozer. And, as everybody saw it in last few seasons Boozer/Okur combination will not lead Jazz over Lakers.Jazz will probably regress, but team needs to try with new faces....
