Zanik bailing already? Not a great sign.
Why is it so bad of a sign? I get it’s not great but what are you thinking it means?Zanik bailing already? Not a great sign.

I'm pretty surprised by this. The Jazz gave him the GM title and a big raise in order to avoid a situation like this and be able to keep him long term. It's obviously far from a done deal but I'm surprised he's even talking to another team.
Oh okay. Agreed. Yeah he does look like a bit of a rat right now. I love and believe in Dennis Lyndsey, and if we’re losing one I’d rather it be Zanick. Obviously this is not close to happening yet, but if I had to chose one to keep I want DL here. Thing is. Chicago’s a far bigger disaster. Idk. I just don’t know.Pretty much this:
With at least a perceived rift in the locker room, and the fact that our play has seriously deteriorated in the past month or 2 of the season, and considering many people are pointing to the Conley trade as being an albatross, it sure looks like a rat deserting a sinking ship right when we need an authority figure to help batten down the hatches. Not a good look. Get promoted, engineer a major change that backfires and ties down the salary cap for 2 years, then bail out when the first suitor comes calling (don't know that, just the perception imo). Sure isn't a good look overall.

He had gone to Milwaukee with the expectation that he would transition to being the GM. Right now, DL is the coach, and JZ is one of the lead assistants. He left his assistant job here for an assistant job in Milwaukee that was supposed to transition to being the head coach. When that didn't work out, he came back as an assistant. We eventually gave him the title of "head coach," even though DL is still running the huddles and calling the plays. Chicago is looking for a head coach not just in name, but an actual head coach. This would be a promotion for JZ. The league has always allowed guys to move on into higher positions. He can be loyal to us, but if we're not allowing him to move up into a higher role, then we're not being loyal to him. Here's an article about Zanik: https://www.sltrib.com/sports/2019/10/19/you-can-go-home-again/
They make it sound like when he left Utah the first time the Bucks experience was not good: "“When it didn’t work out [in Milwaukee], I wondered, ‘Should I have taken the job in the first place and uprooted the family?’” Zanik said. “The opportunity came up to come back here. There were some other ones, too, but I wanted to come back here."
His wife is from WI and so I would assume that's part of the reason they went to Milwaukee. So he failed and he comes back here and now he's looking at going to Chicago. Whatever. If he leaves he can kick rocks.
DL will find someone capable who doesn't have job A.D.D.
This news does kinda speak to the fact that DL is likely viewed by the organization as the real GM. JZ is like the son that is the CEO and is taking over but everyone knows for the important stuff you go to dad... and JZ knows it too because he also has to go to dad.He had gone to Milwaukee with the expectation that he would transition to being the GM. What are the chances the Jazz are okay with this and ready to hit the eject button on the win now window. DL takes over GM role. They don’t replace Zanick for a while or maybe ever to save cash? I think there’s been a few internal issues (not big ones but some as you say). This news does kinda speak to the fact that DL is likely viewed by the organization as the real GM. The organization has some issues... the Conley benching and unbenching was the first sign... it was clear front office intervened there. It was swept under the rug and no one asked any hard/direct questions on it. Now we also have stars that are not being real cool with each other. I guess we don’t really have to worry about it since basketball ain’t coming back until Christmas.

Also, Zanick apparently has some Chicago roots. He got his first job there and that’s where he met his wife so it makes a bit of sense why he’s interested in it.
It means he wants to leave lmao. How is that meaning very little? The fact that he is interviewing means very little. Smart move on his part to do so. Hope he stays.
