Bully slapdown

I showed this to my wife and kids last night and my wife had a take I didn't think about. First it took her 3 viewings to figure out who the bully was. In her mind, the stereotype of the bully being the big fat kid and the victim being a little scrawny kid held sway. We read the article and another that talked about the incident then she could see that it was the smaller kid perpetrating the bullying. I think this also fits other stereotypes such as only men can perpetrate sexual harrassment, etc.

Now her take was this: what if the bigger kid had killed the littler kid? In my wifes eyes the fact that the retaliation by the bigger kid had so much greater potential for permanent harm put him at fault. She accepts he had to stand up for himself, and supports that, but felt the violence used was excessive. She has a point. If it had been the littler kids head that hit that wood planter box instead of his leg he could have died or been disabled.

How, if at all, does that change your view of the whole thing?

Also how about the notion that only bigger people can bully smaller people and not vice versa?

And what if the little kid caught the big kid perfectly with his jabs and knocked him out, and the kid broke his head open falling to the concrete?

Probably just a tad more likely of you suffering a head injury by being bodily thrown to the ground by a guy substantially larger than you than by someone landing a lucky shot and you falling exactly the wrong way. Jus' sayin'.

I am not arguing against the kid standing up for himself. I just put that idea of him hurting the other kid out there as a topic for conversation. Thought it was an interesting point my wife brought up and I wondered how that might change what people thought about the whole thing. I still say slam him down harder.

True story: I got attacked this week by some MMA guy. He punched me and started leg kicking before I had time to process what was going on. As soon as I figured out that the dude meant business, I one punched him and knocked him out. He fell flat on his face and didn't know what happened or where he was when he came to. First guy I've every punched. He was bigger than me and more than likely I'll have to have MCL and ACL surgery (basketball injury - I'll find out on Friday) so I only had one leg at the time he attacked me. lol at crazy MMA guys picking fights.

I have had the same thought as well. I wonder if his more-than-necessary reaction played a part in his punishment. Don't get me wrong, I like what he did and will tell my kids that if they're going to fight they better do what it takes to win it.

Dude, guy, I told you my money was on you. You make me so proud!

hey it seems excessive but that's what happens when you fight out of your weight class. the victim did not choose the bully. i suppose the victim does no martial art. if he did not practice martial art according to some laws that would not consider to be excessive. than if he is a martial artist. seeing as casey might never been in a fight might not be a fight expert and might not know how powerfull he is because of the weight difference. i hope my point comes across what i mean exactly.

if i go out to fight a guy who is almost twice my weight i expect that the dangers are larger than when i fight someone my weight. i learned that freom experience. experience is the best master. so the bully learned a lesson:D

The victim deserved the suspension. Fighting should not be tolerated.

if I'm not mistaken they both got 4 days.
let me ask you and other memebers in this discussio is fighting the same as self defense?
to me there is a difference. fighting should not be tolerated under any circumstances. but according to some definitions this was not a fight. this wa spure self defense.

and i and a lot of people firmly believe that every Hman being hell every living being has the RIGHT to defend oneself. its a Fundamental right. IMHO more fundamental then freedom of speech. it's as fundamental as the right to carry arms. but i know the world does not share my opinion.

A friend of mine his daughter got in a "fight" and got suspended. about the same situation as what happened in this video. only not as epic. but he brought the school to court and won the case. point is she still was suspended for those 3 days. but the suspension was moved from her record and got an apology from the school. Good thing the suspension was pulled form her record as i know what a couple of suspensions do on your schoolrecord

best buy parking lot fights now?

It reminds me of the guy that got shot breaking into another person's house a couple of months ago. Some on here were saying the guy had no right to shoot the guy. Others had the same line of thinking as me, if you don't want to get shot, then stay out of other people's homes. In this case, if you don't want to get f'd up, then don't mess with people 4 years older than you. (I read somewhere that Casey is 16 and the little punk is 12, which makes me think that kid is even dumber than originally thought.)

if he died i would call it evolution getting rid of stupid genes

Have only glanced at other replies but LOL at anyone defending the bully in any way here. Probably the same people that defend the guys that get tazed/shot after not following orders of a policeman. Devil's Advocates are morons sometimes.

I just read that the bully's mom wants an apology. Jeez, is there no end to the stupidity of that family?

Just admit you where wrong in that particaular post and the victim was NO UNDERDog he just chose not to fight. until that moment of course
It's called a disagreement Homestar and you resort to this: "just admit you were wrong", lolzz thats classic. For your health and well being I hope you feel you proved me wrong. I really hope Obama uses the "just admit you were wrong" line in his debates in 2012.
