What's new

Burks 4 year $42 million extension!

Good God... some people on this board hate our players so much. GO BE FANS OF OTHER TEAMS THEN. Burks ain't perfect, but he's a good player. This is a good contract and we are pissing and moaning about getting other players who are similarly talented (who probably didn't want to come here).

Burks IS perfect. And if you can't see that then please GTFO and root for a different team.

The DL hate is pretty funny. The biggest problem with the current state of this organization is the result of treading water for 2.5 years. It takes time to turn a franchise in a new direction and to take the reins of power.... By the time he'd done that, the rookie contracts were over, and decisions had to be made. What's Lindsey supposed to do if not work with what he has? Hire a developmentally oriented coach? Trade Kanter!??? I like that last decision best, Linds. Hi-five.

I like it. With the new tv deal, his contact will be a good one in two years.

It does feel like we are getting very mediocre, but Lindsey will be judged on how Exum and this year's draft pick pan out. This are our future. So,let's hope those two pan out.

You're right my apologies to Alec, his family, and Bawse Dawg.

For reals though... Alec has come a long way. The only thing he does that still bothers me is goes the other way against the pick too often. He's gotten better, but when he does that it needs to result in a layup otherwise it throws everything in the whole possession off. Otherwise he's perfect.

Uh...DL has been at the helm for over two years now.

EDIT: it's painfully clear that Lindsey wasn't hired and immediately given the keys. There are consequences to the slow roll out that the jazz opted for.

Too expensive. I'm not devastated as I like Burks and I think he's a quality player. But 10.25m per year? Come on. I hope Burks is able to at least shoot the 3 consistently from now on, which is far from a guarantee.

DeRozan didn't hit threes when he signed a similar contract (and that was without a looming cap increase incoming). He exploded after his contract-- and now his contract (which was once considered a disaster) is one of the best for an all-star SG in the league.

Funny what the growth of a young player will do. Way too much negativity for this deal.

Pretty good deal I think. It would be risky to let Burks hit the open market because of his unique abilities.

$10 mil a year is the new $6 mil a year. It's inflation in the game, deal with it and move on.

I could see Kanter being moved by deadline if we doesn't commit himself to defense; his minutes are obviously showing that.

Lance Stevenson is making less than Burks. Dennis Lindsey is insane.

FWIW (which is not much due to sample size) Lance is shooting 25% (3-12) from the field and zero percent from 3 (0-2) so far this year. 50% from the line (1-2)

Burks:50% from the field, 57% from 3, 87.5% from the line (wow I didn't know his percentages were THAT good. damn)

I apologize in advance for saying good things about one of the jazz players btw.
