BYU Football 2012

My thoughts on this years rivalry game...

I'm still way mad about the UT st game, but there is one positive to take away from it.

byu is notorious for buying into there own hype every year, (btw if you refute this, sorry your a huge homer.) Think "quest for perfection." Every year some byu dork (often a coach) tells the media that this is the best byu team evar and if they play their game aint nobody in the world gon' stop em!!!

This year was supposed to be different. There would be no way the cougs could come in over confident against The Utes after 54-10 right?? Then Utah loses to UT State and the zoobs just cant help themselves...

"We deserve this. Fetch, we have too much darn tradition honor and power."

It's amazing. byu should head into the rivalry game with a ginormous chip on their shoulder. They are the little guy who cant get into a conference, facing a team from a power conference. They are a team full of scrappy white guys facing elite athletes. They've lost 7 of the last 10 rivalry games. They got bitch slapped 54-10 in their own stadium just last year. Yet, they will walk into RES thinking they "deserve" to win and that they are the superior team and program coming to take what is rightfully theirs.

Its amazing really, but its just who byu is. They cant freaking help themselves.

So while it sucks way bad that we poo'd our pants against Ut St, its amazing beyond belief that on the heels of Pac 12 > Indy, just a few months after Utah basically ended the rivalry, and a year after handing byu the most embarrassing loss in school history, Utah will somehow come into the rivalry game as the pissed off team with something to prove. Hell yes.

(I'll now sit back for a few minutes and wait to be proven right.)

Mods, this is a duplicate post, and a duplicate account. Will you please delete both. TIA

What loss was more embarrassing than 54-10 to your bitter rival at home?

Honest question, as you'd know better than I.

That game wasn't as embarrassing as the final score would indicate because alot of cougar fans feel like we beat ourselves in that game with turnovers.
Some of the recent tcu losses in years when byu fans thought we had a chance to get to a bcs game and tcu just destroyed the cougs were more embarrassing IMO

the ol' beat yourselves excuse. byu is the only team in the history of college football to beat byu. Last year was impressive, you guys blew yourselves right out of the water. byu never stood a chance once byu took the field.

Saturday night / Sunday morning are going to be the greatest couple of hours in JF history. The silence from the UGLI's and Salty's of the world will be deafening. The blaming of the refs will be amazing. The gnashing of teeth will be every dentist's worst nightmare.

I can't wait.

I definitely know better than you. UTEP for starters. If I remember right BYU was coming off the national title and something like a 19-game winning streak.

Don't get me wrong, 54-10 definitely sucks and without doing much research I'd guess it was at least top 10.

Funny that you say that byu is the only team in the history of college football to beat byu, and you are quoting a post of mine which i clearly say that TCU kicked our asses.
You really have some serious reading comprehension issues.

Colton, I wanted max coverage for my rivalry thesis. I am a hunt and peck typer and it took me forever so I'm not letting this thing to to waste. Do you for reals disagree? Is byu not coming into this game as the more confident team? Astounding, if you think about it.

I think they will be confident but I don't think that there's any sort of entitlement attitude, that the universe owes them this game (like you were saying).

This year it will be "half our starters didn't play. Blechen was suspended for being a pot head, Rowe was hurt, White was hurt, Wynn was hurt and quit (never mind that I hated the guy anyway, but this fits my excuse better)."

I expect Salty to stay away for awhile if the Cougs win, but I think UGLY baby won't.

Since when is Utah the team that makes excuses for losses?

byu lost 54-10 at home last year and cant admit they are an inferior team.
