For the record, I still think the BCS is a fraud and hope for an actual playoff someday. However, am I not supposed to be happy that the team I root for now has tie-ins to the Rose and Holiday Bowl's as opposed to the what used to be their 1st and 2nd options? Am I supposed to act like it's not exciting that the regular season is now filled with the likes of USC, Arizona State and Oregon as opposed to Wyoming, New Mexico and UNLV? You hate Utah and their fans, I get it, but your argument may be the most idiotic thing I've heard you say.
Go ahead and stay indy and watch your team linger if football purgatory because year in and year out their October/November schedules are littered with Idaho, San Jose State, and all the other WAC drivel. You remind me of the guy who wasn't one of the first to get asked to the big school dance and now you're going to refuse to go because your feelings are hurt.
Ok, I understand the financial decisions and also the HUGE benefit of having a automatic bowl game for a conference.
But Ute homers need to get off this "BYU's schedule is weak" gig. From an entertainment standpoint, many on your schedule are complete snoozers.
The Pac-12 is crap.
Colorado is just as bad as anyone else on BYU's schedule. Could they even beat Snow College? Could they even compete with Utah's best HS football teams Timpview, Alta, Highland, Logan, Bingham?
A few times now, little brother has mentioned how BYU plays Idaho St. and San Jose St. Folks, I'd much rather play these schools than Colorado. At least Idaho St. might complete a pass or get a first down.
Cal sucks.
USC is average at best. If they were wearing anything but the red and gold, they'd be considered a team like Fresno St.
Washington has been horrible for years.
Wash St? Do they even have a program?
Both Arizona schools are meh.
UCLA is horrible. Aside from that great catch from their TE, they're worthless.
So yay! Playing teams like Arizona and Colorado sure is "sexier" than playing teams like San Jose St. Sound cooler. Probably will be mentioned on College Gameday too!
But for fans who just want to see a good game against good competition, stop acting like the PAC-12 is really "that" much better.
This USC game has the potential to be a complete snoozer ending 14-10.
Now watch me eat it as it becomes a shootout...
I'm really not trying to be a jerk here, but just try and keep things real. Being in the PAC-12 and having the chance to play in the Rose Bowl IS better than BYU's indy. Especially when you consider the other sports.
But as far as scheduling goes? I think Utes are greatly overrating the Pac-12 (easily the worst conference in BCS football right now). Maybe the adrenaline surge of being in a conference that matters finally will keep you folks excited for half your schedule. But give it a year or two, and you'll find that half the games you play are complete snoozers and other than a few opponents like USC, your schedule isn't much better than BYU's. Playing the Arizona schools and Colorado, the Washington schools, Oregon St., and every Cali school not named USC or Stanford is going to be just as boring as any game against San Jose St. or Idaho.
The conference of Champions really is a conference of 1 or 2 teams that actually matter. Of course, these teams are nationally well known (Oregon and USC). The rest are your typical WAC/MWC teams, just with bigger "names."
