Can the Alec Burks experiment please end?

Burks was really good last night... I think he drew 3 offensive fouls on Harden. He got beat one on one a couple times, but harden handles the ball so much that he is going to put up numbers. Not sure it was even last night, but I can see how a reasonable person might think that

The Burks experiment is just beginning my friends. Also, look at what CJ did last night against Philly... it wasn't pretty.

Burks is gonna go off tonight - 25 points. Mavs have no one to guard him and Chandler is no longer a top shelf rim protector.

So Burks played good defense, shot the ball well from the field and from mid range and from deep, passed out to open teammates often on his drives, kept his turnovers low = Burks sucks.

Strange

Obvious attempt to defer inevitable Hayward hate in other direction is obvious. A for effort, but if all he costs us is 4 mill per year(not happening)

That's about all that Nick Young gets. Their impact on the game is about as equal as it gets, with the exception that Nick can take over a game and Alec never will.

You think Burks played Harden even?

Stupidity like this can't be argued with. It's not even worth it.
Burks has more assists if his teammates hit some shots..... Also I think that harden gets the ball in his hands and is asked to create more than Burks.
That probably effects what you are able to do assist wise.

Right. Harden only gets better numbers because he's asked to do more. That's the only reason.

I like that step back chuck shot he had just inside the 3 point line. Solid decision, per par.
IIRC there were less than 5 seconds left on the shot clock. It was a good decision.

Re: Burks playing Harden to a draw: Nope. In the 4th quarter, Harden was bending the defense whenever he had the ball. As Cy has pointed out repeatedly, this led to assists on 10 3-point shots. It probably also led to some other easy shots (when the ball got swung) and shooting fouls. Now, the Jazz defense (and offense) got noticeably more undisciplined as the game wore on, but Burks simply doesn't have this ability. He's a poor passer off the bounce. If Burks can continue to play solid defense and hit open jumpers, he's a terrific player to have when the shot clock is running low or the defense relaxes. Harden is an offense; Burks is a safety valve.

And he still made it, plus wasn't that right as the shot clock was ending? Seems like the only thing he could do on that possession.

The challenge for Burks fanboys is to put together a video of Burks leveraging the defense to create good shots for his teammates. When Harden has the ball, all 5 defenders are focused on him, and he's still able to consistently create good shots for himself and his teammates. When Burks has the ball, defenders stay home, and he's still not as effective as Harden scoring the ball.

Well stated. The troglodyte Balloun can't see things for what they are.

Yeah, but maybe he should have retitled the thread "Can The Alex Burks Starting Experiment Please End". Think for sure he is a good 6th man, jury is out this season on his starting ability.
