I have never said burks is as good as harden..... in fact I have always thought that jazzfanz underrates harden

That logic seems flawed since Burks scored less tonight, yet we lost by more.
Our Superstar took 9 shots. Our "Designated Franchise Player" took NINE SHOTS, and only had 6 assists.
You can't really divorce you're team... you're still going to be a fan. It'll suck, but it's gonna happen. There are times to think about it... the start of this season is it for me.

A spurious relationship IMO. When the offense isn't running smoothly, the Jazz get fewer easy buckets AND Alec gets more short shot clock opportunities.
Alec's been filling his role adequately through two games. Favors and Kanter still have no clue how to set a screen, and Burke and Hayward have been indecisive attacking (around the poor screens) off the bounce. Burks has been aggressive, decisive and effective; it might be time to give him more opportunities to initiate the offense.
On the other end, the ball watching might not have been Ty's fault after all... The Mavs took it to the Jazz from the tip. When playing more talented teams, the Jazz need to play physical defense from the start, and try to force the refs into making tough decisions about how they're going to call the game. The D was weak at the point of attack. You can see the players trying to overload the strong side, and cheating into the paint (2.9 seconds) from the weak side, which is good. The rotations when the ball is swung are slow right now, and once a shot goes up, everyone loses focus entirely. Jazz wing players did a poor job keeping their opposite numbers off the offensive glass (not looking at the box score, so perhaps this wasn't as big a deal as I'm remembering). Hopefully the players will learn, and be more communicative and engaged, both physically and mentally, on the defensive side of the ball as the season wears on. It's gong to be tough to win games without shooters or defenders (specialists) on the perimeter. Poor lead players, poor complementary pieces.

I think it's probably time to move on from the Hayward bashing. He did what any young player would do, and took the best offer he received. Gordo is a nice complementary player, and he had a decent all-around game tonight. Any blame for Gordo's contract should be directed at management.
If Alec can hit the 3 consistently and confidently and also develop his awareness to kick out to an open guy after drawing 3 or more guys (instead of always continuing for the drive) then he will be a vital asset. (he already is a great asset to the team).
His ability to draw fouls whilst driving (when doing it under control), can put huge pressure on opposing team defence as well as put them into foul trouble. This is a good thing for us because if he was on an opposing team he would cause us major headaches. (especially if we play with the same porous defence as we did against the Mavs)

Yeah, Burks scores 4 in the first half, Jazz lose the first half by 25.
Burks scores 11 in the second half, Jazz win it by 7.

He's the most consistent scorer we got. This thread is so bad it's going to give us all cancer. He is unlike CJ in that CJ was a volume shooter who could go on hot streaks. Burks is constantly in attack mode to the rim with an improving perimeter game. Burks will always be able to get to the rim even if his shot isn't falling from 15 feet and out in that respective game. He is arguably our most value player, and as our guys get more comfortable in the system one or two between he, Burke and Hayward will emerge as the GO-TO guy.
