Trey has been bad. He has played as bad if not worse than Kanter but Kanter is an easy scape goat for uneducated fans and uneducated media (I'm looking at you Harpring).

I didn't think we'd see this level of play from Exum this fast into the season. He knows what his weaknesses are and he avoids them. The truly impressive thing to me is that while he is avoiding his weak areas he still manages to be effective on the floor. He not prefect and he's made plenty of mistakes but he looks better with every new game.

I think that by February there will be a real controversy on our hands. The controversy won't be who's better but it will be more about is it too soon to give Exum most of his minutes against the stars that play the PG position in the NBA.

Ummm most of the world sees how bad Kanter has been. To not see it yourself and proclaim those who do as uneducated is laughable. Neither Trey or Kanter are cutting it. Not one or the other.

every guard with size and a fast first-step should be good at scoring closing to the rim.
This also helps teams offence, for that PG will be defended from a bigger distance than usual to avoid penetration.
This means for that PG the opening up of new passing lanes. This is where great passing instincts of Exum should kick in!
Exum is team-first, pass-first type of PG (or that is what I have wanted to perceive). So, his attacking the rim will enable him to pass more comfortably.

Trey has always had a much lower ceiling and has been just as, if not more terrible than Kanter. No one is giving him a pass. Longterm he is not much more than a back up. 25th-35th best player at his position. Just lacks the physical tools and skill set to be an everyday starter.

Agreed. Funny how DL made sure everyone knew he was Ty's idea, just another crafty move for the tank? No great picks in that draft, so allow a weak one to get a better draft pick?

I think trey can likely be a very good backup pg, if he gets it in his head how he needs to play to succeed. Being number 1 is NOT how he needs to play.

As to Exum, relax folks, he is going to be really good but give him time. And this year will not be his time.
 
I appreciate all the Exum love and I also think he will be great but let's not get ahead of ourselves. He is still extremely raw. He is not ready to be the starter.
 
I'm in the minority I guess, but, I like what the coach is doing with Exum right now. I wouldn't fix that a bit, it ain't broke.

If anything I expect Hayward to get some more PG duties....... JUST LIKE CORBIN DID.

Sometimes the new boss is just like the old boss.

Come on now, Burke has his bad nights, maybe a lot more than desired, but he is a baller. A legit PG. He is a great piece to warm the nest for Exum to break his egg.

Also, it is proved by experience that Exum has really good balance once he bumps to the defense up in the air and has the ability to put the ball in the hole and don't usually need to make a circus shot like Burks.
