What's new

Carmelo Anthony

If that's the case, then why do so many people love Jordan? LBJ got ejected for something MJ did every playoff series. He would yell at refs and get in their faces and not even get a tech. MJ punched teammates in practice. His gambling probably led to his break from the game and not baseball.

Colin Cowherd, who covered MJ in his prime, has said very clearly numerous times that he had to bury stories about MJ. He wasnt able to report.

Dont give me the LBJ is a crybaby or is spoiled routine because he just lives in an era when media actually hates on stars more than hide their flaws. So sure, hate LeBron, but have a valid reason that doesn't apply to almost every star ever.

Do a web search if you need to. Articles and opinions all over about how folks cant stand LeBron. The degree of outward self centeredness with LeBron and complete lack of self awareness is unparalleled. Add to that his need to speak out on issues as if he is the voice of the NBA irks a lot of folks. Not one thing you are saying about MJ parallels LeBron. MJ may have had a lot of public issues and perhaps those who knew details about his life didn't like him but he did nothing in the public the way LeBron does. The fact that folks loved MJ and despise LeBron speaks for itself.

When you are the best player in the NBA you get to be the defacto voice.

Did you read my posts? Cowherd has said many times that he and others were kept from writing stories on MJ. Any negative press on MJ was shut down. Any negative press on LBJ is front and center.

I agree that LeBron can be annoying and say too much at times. However, the guy has always been massive for the community. He is such a good man off the court. Considering MJ was the opposite, it is ridiculous when I hear people disliking LeBron the person while seeing MJ put on this ridiculous pedestal like some false god.

Don’t really like LeBron James, Steph Curry, Draymond Green or Kevin Durant. I’m not stupid enough to not want them and realize that they’d give the Jazz a legit shot at a championship (especially if they keep Mitchell and Gobert in the process).

Want absolutely nothing to do with Melo. I actually don’t hate the guy and think he *could* be amazing in the Joe Jesus stretch 4 role. . . but there’s no way he doesn’t become an unhappy black hole in Utah. That screws up everything else that they have going for them. Pass.

Like I said. . . I’d rather rent PG13 if we’re just throwing assets away.

I have never put MJ on any kind of a pedestal nor have I made any comparison of the private life of him, LeBron, or any other NBA player. You brought up MJ but IMO it has nothing to do with this. People loved MJ because of the way he played and he did a real good job of managing his public off court presence. And I don't see how the media is "shut down" on reporting about MJ or any other NBA player. LeBron continually steps in it. Too many things to list. We can simply disagree. In my lifetime I have never seen or heard a more self centered ego centric player who has to get his way. I hope he does great things for his community.

So, let me get this straight... you don't want a championship, ok, got it.

Most ridiculous thing I ever heard! Idiot.

I didnt say that moron. I very much want my team to win a championship, just not at any cost.

But yes I would rather not win a championship with players I dislike. I might as well just cheer for a team that I dislike that is going to win a championship as well if I am going that route. There is little difference between those two things, but logic isnt your strong point.

the media environment is almost entirely transformed from MJ's time to LeBron's. Making facile arguments about their presence in the media without even trying to account for these changes is just straight-up lazy crap.
