Carroll Could Cost Us Wiggins

The worst pick the bottom team can "win" in the lottery is #4 (only the top 3 picks are drawn; the remaining picks follow the standings).

Which means the team with the worst record is guaranteed one of Wiggins, Jabari, Randle, and Harrison (though, the top four could obviously change over the course of the year).

I know it sounds like sour grapes. Maybe it is, a little.. but I am no longer convinced Wiggins is a lock for #1.

well obviously, because if the bobcats get the pick they'd have to find some way to blow it.

My bad, I was actually thinking about two things to put down and then biffed the post. What I was going to originally ask is how many times has a team originally in the top-3 ended up without a top-5 pick? It's rare for three teams to jump ahead of the original three. In fact, I think there's only a 4% chance of that happening. And as you mentioned, there's a 0% chance the worst team ends up with anything less than the 4th overall pick. I don't see the Jazz being the worst team in the league; the Core4 is too strong for that. But who knows, an injury or two, a terrible bench...you just never know. In any case, maybe the Jazz have another pre-Deron season and end up drafting a superstar.

1. The only team in the top-3 that can end up out of the top 5 is the third worst team. Don't care to look up how many times (if any) that's happened.

2. Yeah, I just ran the numbers, and 4% seems right for the chance the bottom three all miss out on the top 3 picks (4.0265935394218% if I've done everything correctly).

I think the Jazz will suck whether they sign junk yard dog or not. I don't think it will make much of a difference at all for the lotto.

Kanter or Hayward will be responsible for that. Or if the FO gets smart and fires Ty early on and gets a real coach.

I'm not ready to give up on Ty. Let's see what he does with a full season and training camp.

Oh...right.........

Kanter or Hayward are the reason why we will or will not get get a top pick. Not some decent bench player.

Are you thinking Harrison could go #1 overall?

Wiggins right now is a lock imo. Too much hype for a team to pass. A fan base would kill a gm if he passes.

PKM lets change this up a little bit. If you were the Jazz GM and could draft anyone from next year's draft today, who would it be?

I basically agree. My statement was meant as a stretch.. but to answer your question...
With it being a long time between now and the next NCAA tourney, a lot of momentum can change. I could see Randle, Parker, or Andrew Harrison all with a chance to overtake the #1 spot. But like I said, at this point it's a stretch.
