Central tank command : the official thread

Jazz in a tuff spot, too bad to make the playoffs, too good to get a top pick. Hire Sam Hinkie today.

I would love to know what the **** that pick was all about.

Most everything we did made sense to me this offseason... Ricky was to appease the traitor that won't be named... the other signings were value deals that made sense.

Drafting Bradley (even if he is a quality prospect) was just dumb... I'm sorry, but putting time into developing a backup center is a waste of resources... moving up to do it was even weirder. We got Udoh who is a great backup for cheap... how many big men are available right now... we could have signed a guy like Len if we wanted to... like they are everywhere.

Could have gambled on a number of 3 and D types or some Euro Stash prospect (or both... because we moved up). DL always has one deal per season that always leaves me scratching my head... but they are usually minor so no big deal.

I am really happy with DL though... I'd give him an A so far. We pushed all in on Gordon, which was the right move imo.

How deep is this next draft supposed to be?

I'm not sure on the consensus, but there are guys I like projected later than the 20s.

Not as deep as the previous one IMO. But the very top is VERY good. Some GMs think the top 3-4 would have all gone no. 1 if they were in this year's draft.

I only have eyes for Doncic... Porter would be a good second place... Mid-Lotto I like Bridges, but want to see if the shot is for real.

Remember how the Jazz traded a draft pick that looks kinda good right now for the privilege of Bricky Rubio and his cap number for the next two years? Who coulda seen that being a problem?

I'm sure the Thunder hit their stride come the new year. And the pick is top 14 protected.

The Jazz barely gave up anything to move up. To call it dumb this early is dumb. You don't know what role Bradley will play for this team through his 4 years here. Maybe by his 3rd year we have a starting level backup to Gobert. Udoh is nice, but the guy has stone hands and can't score even when set-up beautifully. We have seen Gobert is susceptible to getting injured. It's not stupid to invest in a talented backup with upside (a lot of people said Bradley was a potential lottery pick if he stayed at UNC for another year).

In the late 20's you are just trying to draft someone you think can develop. Even if Bradley's absolute ceiling (assuming Gobert stays on the Jazz forever) is an 18 mpg player, then that's still super good from the 27th overall pick.

At this point, there is no 2 man combination of players drafted post-Kuzma and post 42nd overall (the pick the Jazz gave up to move up) that I would say I'm mad that the Jazz passed on to take Bradley.
