Central tank command : the official thread

Right now my hope is the Jazz lose all their games until Gobert comes back, which is enough to convince the Jazz to pull some slick **** to keep Gobert out for the rest of the season.

The Jazz play the Bulls at home with the Bulls being on the 2nd night of a back to back on the 22nd, so that seems highly unlikely.

I posted my calculation earlier with the assumption that we win 5 games until end of December(about 6 weeks after Gobert injury). If that happens our record will be 11-26. I think this will be enough for them to take on the tanking mantle more seriously and make the required moves and adjustments personnel-wise for the tank.

Get out of the way,,. the tank is coming!

The only thing missing is a healthy dose of Tony Bradley.

I know I've been saying this since 2015, but why haven't we traded Derrick Favors yet? I mean, honestly. Anybody who thinks he is a must keep and fits with Gobert needs to have their head examined.

Play Bradley.

If we do this well, we can get to the 7th or 8th pick, imo.

If we do this well, we can go for top 5. We need to win no more than 4-5 games until end of December... and from then on, DL needs to decide to sell off all the players that give us a chance of winning games but are not part of the future of the franchise.

Embiid is closing in on 50 tonight, and Simmons a(nother) triple-double. On the other hand, our two top-5 picks were Kanter and Exum.

I get what your saying. I’ve said the jazz can’t miss on the draft and expect to compete. But how did Jahill and Fultz do in that game?

We used to say this about AK,Boozer, Milsap. Then about Big Al with Favors and Enes waiting. Maybe there was no market then, and maybe there is no market now.

Or Nerlens Noel. And while Embiid looks great, he is three-and-a-half years into his NBA career with some 50 games to his name.

Its not about market. Its about fear. We have always been afraid of trading guys who are inevitably leaving. All the guys you mentioned should have been traded a calendar year before they lost value, got traded for the last second peanuts we got (Boozer) or just simply left.

Interesting jazz connections game last night between ATLANTA and Sacramento. George hill who the jazz rented for 50 games for the cost of one first round pick had 1 rebound, 2 assists and 12 points on 11 shots for Sacramento.

Tauren Prince who was selected by Atl with that Jazz pick starts for the Hawks, he was a game high +38 with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists, 4 steals and 3-5 on 3pts.

Also appearing in the game was Kosta Kofous former Jazzman of boom botches fame. He is now in his 9 th season as a rotational nba player. He was traded with some other stuff to Minnesota for the bloated contract and bloated bottom of Al Jefferson who minny had given up the hope of winning with. Al was supposed to keep the Jazz competitive and a certain star player happy. It didn’t work, and the jazz were saddled with Al long after the star bolted.

I guess it costs a lot to try to keep these jazz “stars” happy.

I've seen Kofous twice in real life. The first time he was at the Greek festival in SLC. I asked him if he really said boom bitches and he laughed a lil and said no and kept on walking. The second time I saw him, he was in downtown LA at about 1 AM with about 3 or 4 beautiful girls who I think were escorts. I did not interrupt his game. I'm sure those bitches got boom'd though.

This is our SA Duncan tank year guys... one year tank job to get that extra piece and set up the dynasty. Get the job done DL.

It seems only fair (if the goal is to emulate the Spurs) that the Jazz tank their asses off for a star in the draft and then have Quin Snyder become as good as Popovich. Trade away guys who don’t figure into the future and put it all on the young guns. Let Mitchell, Hood and Bradley earn their chops. Build up assets. This is a rebuild year. Accept it for what it is. Tear it down and go add the guys that will help you move forward.

Many people are saying we won't do it though... makes me sad.

Tanking does not always work, but it is the best strategy for small markets to get top level talent. We don't even need to go full sixers multi year tank...

Take on dead salary for next year with picks or young guys in exchange for our useful expirings. Our cap space (they we don't realistically have) is not useful in bringing in a franchise changer... we could still facilitate a Kevin Love or similar trade with expirings... there are more than a few teams that would likely bite on an offer because of upcoming cap crunches.

We need to go from winning 35ish games to 25ish games... keep Rudy, DM, Ingles, Exum, Bradley... everything else can be had. If I couldn't get a solid first for Hood I'd roll the dice we can keep him on a fair contract.
