Charlie Kirk shot at UVU event

Who has condoned this violence?

All I’ve seen in this thread are people:

1) calling out the hypocrisy of Repubs staying silent/laughing when perceived political opponents are assassinated or hurt.
2) bringing up Kirk’s (ironic) quotes on gun violence and having to sacrifice children to gun violence in order to perceive rights in America… which is a completely asinine and insensitive remark. Yet, it served as red meat to the base that now wants empathy for his death.

I’m sorry folks, but if you want to empathy, sensitivity, etc then the right needs to change. Gun violence is wrong. Let’s be clear about that. I just wished the right felt that way too.
I mean people on social media in general, not accusing anybody in this specific thread.

I'm really disturbed by this.

And I'm really disturbed by so many people being okay with it.

Political violence is gross and terrifying. If you were against what he was saying, fine, but if you think him being murdered is going to do any good whatsoever, you're extremely dumb.

Political violence will always have its place. I hate Charlie Kirk, he's a hateful man and I'm glad he's dead. It's good for humanity.

When they catch the shooter there is a decent chance they're just another nut with a gun. Not some bolshevik assassin.

Agreed. Those on social media need to tone down the rhetoric… these white supremacist sayings only inspire hatred and violence.

A dude that has a wife and 2 young children was publicly assassinated in front of thousands of people including little kids and all ages and people want to act like he deserved it. That is just sick! Charlie has strong opinions and stated them, but he isn't out there hurting anyone or even making them attend his events. If people don't agree, then don't attend and vote for people with different political views to him.
Hell, I have stopped attending many events entirely because I know how many guns are in America and how angry and divided people are over politics.

I see elementary age kids argue about politics. That didn't happen in the past. trump has not only made the country more angry and divided but simply more political. I never knew anything about politics pre trump. I never even voted before 2016 (I'm almost 50 years old).
trump isn't in everyone's faces for 2 days and everyone thinks he is dead. I think we are better off with a less public president.

I won't go to fairs anymore. There is always a shooting. I wanted to go to a protest but wouldn't go. There was a shooting. I tend to avoid concerts now.
Going to a public event that has a lot of people at it is always dangerous even if the event is non political. We live in america.

But a big public gathering called prove me wrong that is intended to encourage anger and arguments is definitely a place I would never go.

I would say it's a 90% chance the shooter is ex-military and a 80% chance he's a far right person who had some kind of disagreement with Kirk.

I'm against political violence, I'm not interested in arguing whether or not Charlie is a good person.
No one is arguing that he was a good or bad person. I’m not interested in that. I’m interested In the hateful and extremist political rhetoric that folks like Kirk proudly spew into the political space and then refuse to take any responsibility for its consequences. This needs to end. Folks like Trump and Kirk serve hate then demand tolerance and empathy for when that hate bites them in the ***. Upset about being burned today? Well, turn off the damn blow torch you’re holding.
