Chicago picks are in play

I don't want Boozer back under any circumstances. There is a rumor (for another jazz board) which is Utah trades Favors and Burks + a future 1st and 2nd round pick for the #1 and they get back Waiters and Varajeo and still keep the #5. Would you guys do that trade? Who would you pick? Would you take a chance on Embiid at 5 or Draft Gordon or Vonleh? Wiggins and ????.

Boos or not he'd be getting another payday either way.

I don't consider Boozer intelligent, but I think the salary dump concept is easy enough for him to comprehend. The jazz need to meet a minimum salary threshold, the bulls are tired of paying Boozer, so the bulls give the jazz 16, 19 and the Sacramento pick they got from Cleveland via the Luol Deng trade and the jazz take Snell, Dunleavy and boozers salaries. Richard Jefferson, Rush and Biedrens figured it out, booze will too.

No Mirotic, no deal. If they want to throw in all of those other guys, great, welcome the **** aboard.

I take that back. They don't HAVE to include Mirotic. They can choose one of Butler or Mirotic.

BTW, Chicago absolutely stole the 2011 draft.

Anyone know what Carmelo can be offered in a max deal from another team in year one? In other words, how much cap space does Chicago need to max him out?

I thought Mirotic had played himself out of NBA consideration, so maybe that is wrong?

Nah, a team will just have to pay him. Because of the rookie salary scale for 1st rounders, he couldn't be compensated what it would take to get him over here (a la Tiago Splitter). After 3 years, players whose rights are held are no longer bound to rookie-scale restrictions.

That would be a huge steal.

The Jazz should let Houston, Miami, Chicago and every team really know that they are bidding their cap space. With Lebron, Crymello and all the other top tier free agents this summer the Jazz should be able to get some serious offers to clear room.

No way in hell that happens. Unless Cleveland just got twice as dumb in the last year. But I'll play along: Yes, I'd do that 8 days a week. I'd draft Wiggins and Embiid (if he's still there). I'd explore shopping the pick if he or Exum aren't there. If Embiid isn't there and I can't get something I want more than Vonleh, Smart, or Gordon I guess, then I draft one of those guys.

And Boozer can be bought out.

We already paid Boozer a bunch of money for not playing, what's one more year? Trade for him and the picks and buy him out.

Jazz will NEVER, EVER discuss Boozer coming back. And there's no way they buy him out (refer to Bell, Raja on that one).

There's not a bridge in Utah that was built, under construction or yet to be built that he didn't burn.

It's too bad that the business side of this will rear it's ugly head and the Jazz will probably pass on doing another salary cap deal. Because they are in a great position to keep adding assets. I think they should use their cap space for another year on a deal like this, but the problem is, they have to appease the casual impatient fan base and put something on the floor that says they are trying to compete. I don't agree, but I think that's what happens.

Imo, bring on Boozer or whoever else for more assets.

We can substantially improve the team (compared to last year) and do this deal.
