Chris Bosh?

It's not like the Jazz need any more health issues, but they could use some help at PF. With him now officially separated from the Heat he is available.

Is he worth the gamble?

Yes. He'd be perfect. He will be able to play fine so long as he can play.

If he's signed to the minimum... at his current salary no way. I don't think he plays again.

This isn't a guy who's returning after blowing out both of his knees. People hear "medical issues" and see that he's missed almost two seasons and think of every other guy who's had injuries or orthopedic issues and missed time but never returns. This isn't that. So long as he's cleared to play, his performance will be just fine (minus the rust).

If doctors dont still think he could die by playing basketball then sure. Blood clots are very serious and very deadly but people can recover from them and be healthy again. Although he will run a higher risk of more blood clots the rest of his life.

Also I am not sure if he has stayed in shape or been shooting/playing at all. I am sure he could get back in shape but that could take a season.

He also is getting pretty old. I think he will be 34 to start next season.

With all that it would have to be a cheap contract to be worth the risk and have team options in the future.

Yeah, this is just a case where if he got injured in a game, he could bleed out internally and die.

No big deal.

Dude has had blood clot issues, and the medicine he takes puts him at risk if he's injured because his blood won't clot. I doubt any team is going to take the risk of helping kill this guy. Killing guys is bad PR.

I'm a big fan of Bosh. He's exactly the type of player we need at PF. If he was healthy I'd be happy to see us go after him. But this health issue with blood clots is very serious. I don't think he'll play again.

There are a lot of variables at play in that equation. He's not an 84 year old female with osteoporosis on Coumadin.

You sign him with the expectation that he plays, or you sign him for nearly nothing. You do the former if you're fine with him maybe dying and his cap number comes off the books. You do the latter no matter what?

Sorry, that's gross, but that's what you're weighing.

Let him die on another team, but in all seriousness... Do u think that if his health issues weren't a concern, he'd be playing? Heat could've used him. Hell no to signing Bosh.

I've detailed this more elsewhere but he's making $22M this year. That's a big risk for them to take when they have insurance picking up the larger part of it and they could (as they've done) apply for cap relief. If they brought him back and he got ruled out again, it'd cost them a lot in finances and cap space, so I really don't think the Heat holding him out is the smoking gun on his health. If he was making $5M per year they'd have a whole lot more urgency to get him back.

He'll sign a minimum contract with the Warriors or Cavs. It's what every player does now.

Yeah, I would guess Golden State. Makes the most sense for him. He could replace David West's role and be much better.

Yeah, if you're talking about signing him cheap to avoid risk, that means he can go pretty much anywhere he wants. I'm guessing Utah wouldn't be his first choice in that scenario.
