CJ Miles and the 6th man award

Even Wes Mathews was a role player last season. And he was pretty consistent. Despite being a rookie.

If you are going to play the "role player" card for Miles, then it doesnt fly in the face of Miles wanting to jack up shots like Ray Allen every night anyways.

Wes Mathews, Millsap(even in his rookie year) and Harpring(in his first 2-3 yrs with the Jazz) are pretty good examples of role players who were also consistent. It is not unfair to hold Miles to those standards. Even Watson this year has been pretty consistent for that matter.

You talk as if being a role player and being consistent is always mutually exclusive.

Miles is consistently bringing something to the game this year. It's not always scoring but he is almost always adding something to the team when he is on the floor. He's not consistently hitting his shots and he's not consistently scoring 20 points that's why he is being criticized for consistency. Mathews and Harpring were far from consistent every night. Watson is fairly consistent in the same way Miles is. He brings something to the game every time he plays but it's not always scoring. In fact with Watson it's rarely scoring.

This is why people see CJ as such a disappointment.
Miles is not a star. Not a 6thman. Not a 20ppg scorer.
Miles is a good ROLE PLAYER that can help tilt a game in your favor...

Yes. I also think you're missing the point of much criticism. Miles has become a chucker that takes every look he gets. He's not consistent enough to have the green light, but chucks like he does anyway. I wouldn't care about Miles' shooting inconsistencies if he were even a .39% shooter, but he's not. Shooters are up and down. Korver showed that last year in many terrible shooting games. But that's what shooters do. Chuckers, on the other hand, are like watching ****ing church ball. They throw **** up over and over and over, until you want to pull your hair out and scream "stop chucking the ****ing ball already". That's what's going on 'round here.

CJ's salary is not highly relevant to the discussion as to whether he's a 6th man or a star or something in between. And your comment relies on the dubious assumption that players are paid what they are worth. Such is not the case for CJ or AK; it hasn't been the case for Millsap, either, and probably still isn't.

No. The salary part is only complimentary and used to show what role the Jazz see CJ filling.

No he wasn't. He was tough on D and that seems to have masked his shooting inconsistency (especially from 3).

I disagree. Miles can wholeheartedly be labeled a chucker...at times.

Pretty consistant? Did youy see how bad he played in the playoffs? also what is his shooting percentage like 35%?
